#NDintheNFL: Will Fuller & Theo Riddick Shine

September 13, 2016 by BJ Konkle

Will Fuller's NFL rookie campaign began Sunday and he picked up right where his Notre Dame career left off. He showed why he was correctly assessed as a first round talent recording five receptions on 11 targets for a Houston Texans rookie debut record of 107 yards and one touchdown in the Texans' 23-14 victory over the Bears. Fuller's speed was on full display, especially on his touchdown, which came on a screen pass that Irish fans are all too familiar with. He could have had an even more ...

Notre Dame’s Most Talented Opponents

June 28, 2016 by andrewwinn

Pro Football Focus unveiled its 101 best college players Monday, offering an early glimpse at some of the players that will likely give the Irish fits come this fall. Before we look at Irish opponents, let's look at the two Notre Dame players that made the list: Offensive linemen Mike McGlinchey and Quenton Nelson. Here's what PFF's Steve Palazzolo said about McGlinchey, who he ranked #36 overall. McGlinchey has made great strides since arriving at Notre Dame as a high-upside freshman. ...

Southern Cal’s Sanctions Are Over, but Lane Kiffin Memories Are Forever

June 10, 2014 by Ryan Ritter

I suppose that Southern Cal fans are rejoicing today: https://twitter.com/USC_Athletics/status/476431129554079744 Sure, be happy that you are out of the NCAA doghouse; however, you can never erase the memories that this guy gave us: Earlier this week, Spencer Hall detailed the best memories that Lane gave all of college football. However, simply stating that Lane lost to Tommy Rees just doesn't sum up the joy that Kiffin gave Irish fans. Allow me to fill in the blanks as we walk ...

Good Fridays w/Padre: Last Hurrah

May 10, 2013 by Father Sorin

Send three volleys of cheers on high for our Seniors! Hurrah! Hurrah! Hooray! As final exams end today, so begins your last week at Notre Dame. Be proud. Be gracious. Be generous. Be humble. But above all, be happy! For you have achieved something great. And you have achieved it together. When you arrived here as a herd of freshmen in 2009, did you think that in your Senior year you would see your classmates lead your football team to an undefeated season and a #1 ranking? Probably not. ...

Drafted: How Notre Dame’s Class of 2013 Fared in the NFL Player Selection Meeting

April 29, 2013 by Bayou Irish

The 2013 NFL Player Selection Meeting a/k/a "The Draft" took place from last Thursday, and The University of Notre Dame did well. Six players were drafted over the course of seven rounds, with TE Tyler Eifert going first as the 21st pick overall and S Zeke Motta going "last" as the 244th pick overall. This was a very good draft for Notre Dame, the most since 2007 when a total of seven Irish got the coveted call. Here's how it shook out: First Round: Tyler Eifert was a lock to go in the first ...

Fourteen Irish Put Through Paces at Notre Dame Pro Day

March 27, 2013 by Bayou Irish

Fourteen Notre Dame football players went through their last meaningful paces at the Loftus Center today when the Class of 2013 conducted its NFL Pro Day. While all (most of) the national press focused on the performance of Manti Te'o, Notre Dame's erstwhile defensive field general, John Goodman, Mike Golic Jr., Braxston Cave, Theo Riddick, Robby Toma, Tyler Eifert, Cierre Wood, Kapron Lewis-Moore, Zeke Motta, Jamoris Slaughter, Manti Te’o, Ben Turk, Jordan Cowart, and Chris Salvi all sought to ...

NFL Combine: Eifert Impresses, Te’o Disappoints

February 26, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

Ah, the NFL combine -- the place where tenths of a second in a 40 yard dash and a couple of inches on a vertical jump can translated into millions of dollars. Truth be told, I think it is one of the more overrated and overhyped events the NFL does, but there is no doubt that the combine is a place in which draft fortunes can be made. Eight Notre Dame football stars took to Indianapolis to try and boost their draft fortunes and their results are after the jump. ...

Know Thyself, Know Thy Enemy (The NCG Edition): Running Back

January 2, 2013 by Bayou Irish

Vincent Smith could tell you a few things about running back. And as soon as he stops weeping tears of a Clowney and rocking himself in the corner, I am sure he'll be happy to. In the meantime, you've got Bayou Irish in all of my flu-addled glory.  Great way to start a new year, folks, I gotta tell ya. Coughing up phlegm into a Kleenex before passing out in a Nyquil induced-haze at 7:00 p.m. ROCKS! But seriously, let's talk some football, y'all. Six days out from the National Championship Game, ...

It’s Official: Notre Dame and Alabama in BCS Title Game

December 3, 2012 by Ryan Ritter

In perhaps EPSN's most anti-climatic BCS reveal show ever, Notre Dame and Alabama received their official invites to the BCS National Title game. At HLS, this now means we start the process of breaking down as much Alabama information as possible for the next month as well as bracing for some newfound SEC visitors that happen to stumble upon us. For now though, less enjoy some reactions from Brian Kelly and the players in celebration of this great moment. ...

The Invasion of Norman

October 30, 2012 by Ryan Ritter

The last time I dared to enter enemy territory, I was a senior at Notre Dame. During that 2006 season, I was hopeful that somehow the Irish would manage to upset Southern Cal on their home field and try to find their way into the national title picture. Six years later, I found myself on a bus to Norman hoping the Irish would pull off a different type of upset (by Vegas standards) against the Sooners with 50+ young alumni...and my father. ...
