Her Loyal Podcast: Episode 05 – THE SUBWAY DOMER RETURNS

November 13, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

That's right folks, THE Subway Domer has made a return for Her Loyal Podcast to talk about the Notre Dame/Pitt disaster with the Irish Twins. There is no preview needed! On the iTunes front, I think I'm (finally) getting things figured out (I hope). I'm hoping to have it all settled before BYU. Anyways, enough from me, let's get to it! ...

Irish Blogger Gathering: The Pitts

November 13, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

Well, I decide to mix up the IBG and the Pitt disaster happens. THESE TWO THINGS ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT RELATED! Right? ....right...? Anyways, there's a lot to digest in this post-mortem, so let's get to it. As a reminder, every IBG member submits a single question and we all answer it on our own sites. Instead of answering my own question, I'll link to the other IBG members to you can check out their answers. Links will go up as soon as they are live on the their respective ...

Snap Judgment: Pitt

November 10, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

So where do we even start with Notre Dame's debacle in Pittsburgh last night? Perhaps we could start with Tommy Rees. Tommy, quite frankly, had one of his worse games in his career at ND. He may have had 300+ yards through the air, but he did so with a sub-50% completion rate and 2 INTs which may have been two of the worst balls that I've ever seen him throw. One of these came in the endzone and when Notre Dame was on Pitt's 2 yard line no less. Or perhaps we could point to T.J. Jones' ...

Notre Dame at Pitt Gameday Conversation

November 9, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

In honor of embracing the certainty of a heart attack during Notre Dame/Pitt, this week's Spotify playlist kicks off with a certain someone that we now fear seeing on the TV (and likely will see), but whatever, WE ARE EMBRACING THIS. Anyways, beyond music jokes you can find your unfiltered #HLSRecap below from the top 25 and join in the conversation as always via the #NDFB widget at the bottom. GO IRISH! BEAT PANTHERS! Friday Roundup: The “Embracing a Heart Attack” Edition

November 8, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

Let's take a look at the last decade of Notre Dame/Pitt: Save for Weis making quite the debut against a very unprepared Pitt led by Dave Wannstedt, the ND/Pitt series has been defined by a single possession contest as of late. To be honest, it's really hard to explain why. For the most part, Pitt has been a medicore team that Notre Dame is usually better than. Last year's game was probably the best example of this: an undefeated Irish squad hanging on for dear life against a team that ...

Irish Blogger Gathering: Let’s Shake This Thing Up

November 7, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

When Subway rode off into the sunset and placed the IBG into my care, he probably didn't anticipate that I'd start tinkering with the thing before the season was even done. However, soon after I took hold, I couldn't help it and the wheels started spinning in my head for how to shake things up again. When another member of the IBG came to me asking for change as well, I took it as a sign to go for it. I threw out an idea. It wasn't hated. So here we go. I took inspiration from the roots of ...

Uh, Pitt, What Are You Doing?

November 6, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

You know, I've seen and heard a lot of weird things in college football. After all this is the sport that has an old man, post-stroke no less, donning mascot heads and doing all kinds of odd things (and bless you forever, Corso, for doing them) and having the entire thing not just considered normal, but highly anticipated. However, Pitt has taken the cake this week as they prepare for Notre Dame. Exhibit A: https://twitter.com/SwigNation/status/398193422617804800 In what universe ...

Friday Roundup: The “Top QB” Edition

November 1, 2013 by Ryan Ritter

On November 1, 1913 Notre Dame established the forward pass as a legitimate offense in college football. Its purpose was to make the quarterback the most feared player on the field and propel the team to greatness. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls him the guy that embarrasses them every year*. The Fighting Irish call him.... TOP QB *2007, 2009, and 2010 didn't exist...why the hell is everybody acting like they did? --------------------------- Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix stand ...
