I won’t lie. I didn’t watch a lick of the NFL this weekend. Not because I don’t love my football but because I was more concerned with the baseball playoffs. I probably watched a total of 3 minutes of highlights and only because it was the Dallas Cowboys. Other than that, it was all about the Cubs and seeing some great playoff baseball. I love the Dallas Cowboys. I grew up watching during the end of the Tom Landry era and though Herschel Walker was the bomb, Ed “Too Tall” Jones was the bee’s knees and later loved when the trio of Aikman, Smith and Irvin won championships. With another weekend of NFL football under our belts, the Irish saw a number of former players see action over the weekend. Perhaps the most disappointing news to come from Sunday’s action was the non-contact injury suffered by Chargers co-captain Manti Te’o. It was announced Monday morning Te'o suffered a torn Achilles and would require season-ending surgery. Sadly, he has yet to play a full season in the NFL. Te'o will have to wait til the 2017 year to try again. ...
