Irish in the NFL: Week 03

With another weekend of NFL football under our belts, the Irish saw a number of former players see action over the weekend. Perhaps the most disappointing news to come from Sunday’s action was the non-contact injury suffered by Chargers co-captain Manti Te’o.

It was announced Monday morning Te’o suffered a torn Achilles and would require season-ending surgery. Sadly, he has yet to play a full season in the NFL. Te’o will have to wait til the 2017 year to try again.

On a side note, Te’o is the third San Diego player to tear an Achilles this season, joining running back Branden Oliver and tight end Jeff Cumberland. Perhaps the NFL needs to take a look and see if there is something in the San Diego water that needs to get flushed out.

Here’s how the rest of the former Irish did this weekend:

Last game: Did not record any stats in the Browns’ 24-30 loss to the Dolphins.
