To all Her Loyal Readers, we hope you have an amazing Christmas, and a kick-ass 2012! We promise daily posts from Poot, continued snark from MQ, great analysis by screen grab from Tex, and more randomness and dancing leprechauns from me. Also, here's a sample of the Title Track from Ken O'Malley's "Forever Irish" tailgating album. This song tugs at the heart strings, and I think it makes a great Christmas gift for the ND fan in your life. Happy Holidays! ...
So You’re Telling Me There’s a Chance
A good one. This Saturday, a game that could have pitted two Top-10, 1-loss teams arrives. *sigh* But still, not much changes other than how much money ND can make in a bowl, and some public perception of whether ND is 'back' or not. No matter what, this game is the second big test of the season to see where Notre Dame Football stands in 2011. While I believe Stanford is still ranked a bit too high based on the love for Andrew Luck, they are a legit Top 10-15 team and this game is a ...
A Major Step Taken
ND Football may not be all the way 'back', but during this season the program took a major, major step forward. No, not Crazy Train or Shamrock Helmets, but SHELLACKING OF INFERIOR OPPONENTS. YYeeeeeeeeahhhhhhh! Blowing out teams you're supposed to beat seems like a fairly innocuous thing. "Of course that's supposed to happen, so what?" Well, the 'so what' is that it HASN'T been happening. Syracuse. Tulsa. Navy, Navy, Navy. UCONN. You know those games and you cringe just ...
STOP. #TomaTime!
This week Robby Toma gets a chance to start. And we love it. So, STOP, TOMA TIME! Hit Play my my My MY! Defense hits him so hard, make you think "Oh My Lord" Thank you for blessin' ND, with a Hawaiian rhymer that can carry this team Feels good, when you know you're down, with a non-haole homeboy far from his hometown And he's known, as such, and this is a Receiver, you can't touch! STOP! TOMATIME! ...
“Forever Irish” Tailgating Album Released!
Our friend Ken O'Malley's new album of Fighting Irish Tailgating Tunes, entitled "Forever Irish", has arrived! It's a pretty awesome addition to the ND catalog of songs - perfect for a tailgate, gamewatch, party, or wherever/whenever you feel like listening to some ND Football and Celtic/Irish-inspired tunes. These aren't meant to be new 'anthems' for ND, or a replacement for the classic tunes of yore. Rather, it's a pretty laid back album designed to make for good tailgating music - the ...
Just A Quick Reminder Here, Folks, RE: Progress
Notre Dame has been BEATEN by 1 team this year: USC. Yes, yes, we were beaten soundly by them, at home, with a crappy first-time-out-pumped-in-music-effort (that was much better this past Saturday). And yes, yes, that was a sound loss to a USC team that seemed really down coming into that game. But note that that same team took Top 5 Stanford to Triple OT. So maybe USC isn't as down as we all assumed? But the point stands. We've been beaten by a single team: USC. Notre Dame has ...
You Don’t Know Jack
Jack Nolan, the friendly face and voice of Notre Dame football digital media and radio, took some time to talk to HLS this past week. You can find Jack in a million places surrounding Notre Dame Athletics, including Inside Notre Dame Football (posted every Monday) and The Brian Kelly Radio Show (Live Thursday Nights) on UND.com. Jack will also cover ND Hoops as the boys open up against Miss. Valley State at 2pm on 11/12 and you can find him on WSBT 960AM in the Bend and 890 AM in ...
5 Questions Coming Out of USC
Have at it in the comments: 1) The team came out super flat. No doubt about it. Is this on the players, coaches, or both? My answer: 100% both. I don't know how a player doesn't come out ready to play, and I don't know how a coach doesn't have them ready. 2) The pumped in music was polarizing to say the least. Does it need to go? Should it stay? Does it not matter? My answer: I think it should stay, but the execution needs improvement. ND needs to have what the music ...

Lane Kiffin is a Boob
You already knew this, but this week he's reminded us all. A few quick examples: 1) TIMING-GATE!!!!!!!!! Kiffin was unhappy the Notre Dame game got switched to a night kickoff after USC made its travel arrangements. The Trojans leave Thursday afternoon for Indiana. "I wish they would have told us before," Kiffin said (about the game being a night game). "We wouldn't have left one day early." Kiffin is miffed because ND had the gall to move the game to an evening kickoff time ...
