Other than George Atkinson III, you can tag this team as the new Not Ready for Prime Time Players.

I’d say Jonas Gray is playing great. Otherwise, just embarrassing, piss-poor performance. Even without the stupid turnover i dont think we would have won this game, but it would have felt a lot closer.

USC whipped us good. We apparently completely forgot how to play football.

Yes, Gray was all right. The complete abandonment of the running game limited his touches, but his TD run was excellent.

I think Kelly gave his players the last 2 weeks off for holding Air Force to only 565 yards. I am sick of hearing of a return to glory. I think any of Kelly’s Cincy teams would blow this team out. How about a return to blocking and tackling?

SC just looked a lot faster than us yesterday. First time in awhile that I’ve noticed that about this ND team.

Yes, SC looked faster. That was disappointing. I have many objective comments to make, but also questions. How did the line get so manhandled? If Manti is a first round draft choice he must make at least two major plays a game. He didn’t.
To me, it looked like the last int was a decent throw into a tight space, and the USC player played the ball. Shouldn’t we play the ball a bit more often too?
I have been on the Jonas bandwagon for 3 years. It is not a coincidence that he breaks runs. He is the best pure running back we have had since Julius Jones. 20 carries = 150 yds against anyone.
I am a big believer in Coach K and so I expect him to make this switch to Jonas as the primary back.
There is so much more to say but I know we are all down. How is it grown men care so much about something? I think it speaks well of us to care so much, absent the hate that will spew from some corners.
One rant; Ban the USC band from coming. All I could hear on TV was that damn song.

I just checked some other scores for the first time since I have been too frustrated to give a damn. MSU beat wisconsin by 6. I cannot say what the f@#! loud enough. #painandmisery

We need some rational discussion and debate on this site. I can’t believe all the knee jerk reactions to fire Kelly, bench Tommy etc. on the other sites.
As both a kelly and Tommy supporter, let me say that I do think the play calling was poor. Coach K picked a bad night to be off. We must throw the ball deep to Floyd once a quarter. We needed to run the bread and butter run play 5-10 times (the delayed ho)
Coach must now see Jonas as the starter and run him 10 more times a game.
Tommy was ok, but not great. His miss of Eiffert was one of the first times all year that he has missed an open man in that situation.(But he needs to perfect his fade pass)
But I am more shocked by the D. I though we were passed the point that we could be pushed around.
Coach calling out Cierre is wrong, but his anger is justified. What a pathetic performance.I would like to see McDaniel get some snaps.
Another random thought I had and one seemingly overlooked by most of the critics-there are two teams on the field and the other team is entitled to play hard too! By this I mean if games went exactly to form there would never be upsets or surprising results. Based upon our game against MSU, MSU should have been killed by Wisconsin. Presumably in Norman OK today the drums are beating to fire Stoops. No? These results happen. Its just that they seem to happen too often to us.
Lets take a deep breath.I’m starting to relax a bit but it will take me all week. The boys have to regroup today.

What did coach say about Cierre? Was it on the dropped backwards pass? That’s poor execution that led directly to points, so I don’t blame him if he mentioned it, but I didn’t hear it specifically.

I heard him call out Carlo for the PF, Tommy for missing Floyd deep a few times (we three it, just didn’t connect), Dayne for the fumble, and everyone collectively for missed fills, bad footwork, and other fundamentals that contributed to us getting out played. I’m glad he didn’t railroad anyone too bad (from what I heard), but it has to be so frustrating when you’ve done everything you can do as a coach (I presume) and your team gets pushed around by their arch rival and people play like it’s the first week of the year.

GAIII is the first PLAYER (not just freshman) to have two kickoff returns for TDs in the same year since 1997! I was shocked by that. I thought for sure we’d had a few during my time in the early 2000s, but they must not have been by the same person. He’s the first FRESHMAN to have multiple KO TDs since The Rocket. That fella is fast.

Apparently he specifically called out Cierre for the fumble and general poor performance.
But in watching one of the pressers you could tell Kelly was beyond words about the absurdity of the two fumbles.
I concur that one or two players simply didn’t step up at all.

No, the question called out Cierre. Kelly just made it clear that he saw what we saw.
