Chad Holtz, the second member of Walk On Nation (WOPU Nation) on the Irish Basketball squad. Holtz hails from the dirty south of Louisiana.
Chad Holtz hoped around during high school, for his freshman and sophomore season he played at Tampa Jesuit in Florida, then decided that Louisiana needed to get a taste of his basketball skills, so he played a season at Rushton High School, but the sunny state of Florida missed the 6-5 Forward and Holtz played his senior season back at Tampa Jesuit. Throughout all these moves, Holtz rounded up a 5A state championship in Florida and was a two time team captain.
Holtz has not seen playing time yet this year but seeing as he is only one of two walk-ons, I cannot imagine he won’t be a contributor, in some way, to the Irish squad. Chad’s high school stats will not blow you out of the water, averaging 6.4 PPG, 1.3 APG and 3.6 RPG during his high school career at Tampa Jesuit though his character and work ethic are something to give credit too. Even after leaving Jesuit he was named captain the season he came back, which is a testament to his character and commroderie that he had with the teammates at Jesuit.
I am excited to see what Chad can do for Walk On Nation and for the leadership and character of this Irish squuaaadddd.
Oh yeah and I am sure you have already noticed the last name and to answer your question…yes, Chad is the grandson of famed football coach Lou Holtz. So you can only imagine the Notre Dame lineage that Chad hails from. His ND family flag must need an extension with all those dates on it #NDfamilygoals.
