Notre Dame football. Comic-Con. What do you get when you put them together? #CostumeGameDay, that’s what! My name is Anastasia and if you’ve been following me on Twitter (@MrsTruj) or at #CostumeGameDay you know that I combine my two favorite things, Notre Dame and make believe, every Saturday. This season, I am very happy to announce that I am bringing my Saturday sartorial celebration to HerLoyalSons!
Let’s face it. Most of us don’t get to watch the game on campus, in the stadium. We don’t get the opportunity to get lost in the Notre Dame Bookstore, get to the midnight drum circle, the trumpets under the Dome, the pep rally, or the grotto. We miss out on the community and ritual that is as much a part of a football Saturday as the game itself.
That’s why I came up with #CostumeGameDay. I wanted to bring some extra excitement and fun to my Notre Dame Saturday, and to connect with Irish fans around the country. Superheroes, bier frauleins, even sexy football players (a picture now exclusive to Her Loyal Sons) all had their place in my imagination on game day. As the idea came together, I wanted to show everyone that it was okay to be who you are and get goofy on game day because, in the end, we are all cheering for the same team. Sure, some of my costumes are silly and don’t make a lot of sense (to you), but that’s the whole point. #CostumeGameDay is about being who you want to be that day, having fun, and cheering for old Notre Dame!
I have included some pictures throughout this article of what I wore during the 2014 Notre Dame Football season so you can get an idea what #CostumeGameDay is all about. I encourage you to check in each Game Day Saturday to see what costume I will be wearing to cheer on Notre Dame and to participate in a fun contest. Go Irish!

I’m all for “dressing up” but I firmly believe in the saying “less is more.” 🙂

Between the #CostumeGameDay, Molly’s fashion updates, Tex’s Friday Booze recommendations, and my aforementioned HLS Fan Card, I do believe we’re developing a more civilized fan base!

Just be sure to wear “winning” costumes. Thank you.

I live by the words of Ricky Bobby: if you ain’t first you’re last. They better win!
