All Night Long

May 12, 2011 by The Biscuit

With the announcement that Purdue will be a night game, ND looks to be partying all night long in 2011.

“FIESTA, FOREVA!”

HEY JAMBO JAMBO!

That gets ND to 5 night games (thus far) for the season.

9/10 at Michigan
10/1 at Purdue
10/22 vs USC
11/12 at Fedex Field (vs Maryland)
11/26 at Stanford

Going to make for some looooong days of drinking. Oh, darn. Whatever shall we do?

Anyone know Coach Kelly’s track record of preparing his teams for night games? Did Cincy play a lot of night games? It seemed like there was a stretch where ND didn’t fare so well under the lights, but if Kelly has a plan for keeping the team focused during the day, then I’m sure we’ll be fine.

And if you were talking about ND pre-Kelly, I agree that we did seem to suck at night…but we kinda sucked during the day too.

We actually played better at night than we did during the day
    1)Purdue – Day – W
    2)Michigan – Day – L
    3)Michigan State – Night – L
    4)Stanford – Day – L
    5)BC – Night – W
    6)Pitt – Day – W
    7)WMU – Day – W
    8)Navy – Day – L
    9)Tulsa – Day – L
    10)Utah – Day – W
    11)Army – Night – W
    12)USC – Night – W
    13)Miami – Day – W

    Day: 5-4
    Night: 3-1

And the 1 night loss was on the road…in overtime…on a fake fg…to an 11 win team

That game will piss me OFF forever. We had that game won. WON. And it was a brilliant play call but it was pulled off by crazy luck. Angers me to no end.

It’s a bit too soon, but that play might be my most horrifying football moment. Past the ‘bush push’ and just below the BC fieldgoal in ’93. I’ve been rendered speechless twice, and that’s the only one sports related.

I was screaming ‘FAAAKKE!’ While Sparty was still in the huddle. I cant believe Harrison didnt have even a suspicion it was coming.

Night games have to help recruiting on the WEST coast. I like the fact that ND will be under the lights more often this year. However, it’s gonna cost me some expensive Merlot for my wife to watch this late guys… lmao Hey, atleast no more date nights after the Irish drop a game and all I wanna do is sleep, eh? jk

Night games suck for my family. No way my six-year-old son, who will sit and watch a 3.5 hour football game with me with no trouble at all, is going to be able to stay up that late. FIVE in one season? When it was Michigan and USC, I was on board, but Purdue? It’s a running joke how boring it is to watch Purdue play, and now we’re supposed to stay up to do it? Too many night games in one season, IMO.

You weren’t already starting for the all-day shit show that is going to be the USC game?!? You need to step up your training!

How things change. One of the original selling points to the ND-NBC contract was that all home games would start mid-afternoon. Now it seems that’s no longer a good thing. As for me however, living a three hour drive away, starting home late is not necessarily a safe, or comfortable thing.
