The College Football Playoff rankings are the only definitive metric that the sport really needs, but these are still a couple weeks away. Until then, we have a bye week to recap some things that hold Notre Dame fans’ fancy.

11 Things ND Fans Won’t Shut Up About (Besides National Titles)
Since posting our preseason Fake Top 25 ranking, the college football landscape (and Notre Dame’s football fortunes) have shifted substantially. So here’s a bye weekly (biweekly?) assessment of things that ND fans have in the frontal cortices of their minds.
- Rooting for the Chaos Theory with teams ranked above Notre Dame. This week, it includes hoping Georgia Tech can beat FSU, whether Clemson will Clemson against Miami, and… (gulp) hoping for Utah to lose? In any case, we’re already talking to our children about the possibility of an undefeated Iowa.
- The ND/SC ICON video.
- Autry Denson’s handiwork all over Notre Dame’s rushing attack this year. Get well soon, Tarean…but in the meantime, #RTDCJP
- Petitioning NBC to replace Doug Flutie with Steve Spurrier, and installing David Feherty as sideline analyst.
- Asking USC’s president to sign Pat Haden to a lifetime contract as athletic director.
- As the weather turns autumnal, let this warm your innards:
- Mimicking Jaylon Smith’s “bowling strike” celebration after completing a particularly good Powerpoint presentation in the office.
- Reminding fellow gamewatchers that Joe Schmidt used to be a walk-on.
- Brian Van Gorder’s sideline signals in-game.
- Watching opposing defenses try and cover Will Fuller with one guy.
- Knowing *precisely* when to go for two points when trailing in the fourth quarter.

Oh, man… this was rich!
Spurrier hates Notre Dame. Routinely voted them several spots lower than the average in the coaches poll
NO-O-O-O-O!! Not Spurrier, the guy who maneuvered Lou out of his “handshake contract” at SC!! Aaron Taylor or Brady Quinn, maybe.
Best part about this?!? Georgia Tech DID beat FSU. Clemson did Clemson against Miami. AND USC beat Utah!!! Yesterday was the first and LAST time ND fans were heard cheering for USC, but hey, it’s all good when two Top-10 teams go down….
Clemson didn’t Clemson one bit. But that’s a good thing as we need em to win
