In the second AP poll of the season, the Fighting Irish (2-0) are up one spot to number eight. Surprised? Don’t be. This is just reward for beating a FBS, Power-5 opponent on a weekend in which two top twenty-five, SEC teams were tested (Auburn) and bested (Arkansas) by Jacksonville State and Toledo.
This week’s opponent, Georgia Tech, is also up one, to fifteen. Clemson is up one to eleven. USC is up two spots to six.
The log jam at the top creaked a little, as MSU stole two of tOSU’s votes. MSU beat Oregon Saturday night and jumped to the fourth spot over Baylor, who dropped one to five. The top three, OSU, Alabama, and TCU, are unchanged.
