There are times for long and thoughtful pieces. This is not one of them.
Notre Dame men’s basketball just claimed their first ever conference title in just their second year in the ACC. They did it by beating Duke and North Carolina on back-to-back nights in their own backyard.
So for all those “yeah, but what will this team do in March?” here’s your answer:

I’m too unbelievably excited/beside myself to even know what to write right now. I was going to be happy if they played Duke close and then they go and win the whole damn thing.
I’ve been someone that has been super critical of Brey in the past. I have never been so happy to be so wrong.
Go Irish. Beat everyone in the Big Dance.

Recent Alum
Here was the (in my opinion as a huge ND fan and recent alumni) disgraceful thing about the postgame celebration that most people didn’t notice. All of the Notre Dame players were too busy celebrating to show basic sportsmanship and go through the handshake line. There was a shot of all of the North Carolina players lined up for the handshake line and the Notre Dame players two feet away with their backs turned celebrating, completely ignoring UNC. If there was not a court storming, there is no excuse at NOTRE DAME to not show your opponents basic respect and take a second to go through the handshake line. Even if it is the National Championship, anyone that has the privilege of representing our great university also has, as a condition of that privilege, the responsibility to conduct themselves with class and respect their opponents at all times. Postgame handshakes are a key part of the culture of college athletics and, regardless of the circumstances, Notre Dame is the last place that should be disrespecting our opponents by ignoring them when they are trying to congratulate us after they just lost in a tough fought championship game. I know I will be bashed for this stance but someone needs to say it. When you are trying to honor Fr. Ted, it is flat out wrong to compromise a core principle because that is the easy choice to make at the moment.

I have a feeling ND did what every other team does: celebrate with your teammates and then go through the line. Just because ESPN didn’t show it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. There’s no proper “good sportsmanship time limit” to start shaking hands.
Good grief, can we not be happy as fans when we win? Do we always have to find something to complain about?

I mean, it *is* the Lenten Season so outbursts of joy are really frowned upon. I hope the chaplain instructed the lads to refrain from shouting “Alleluiah!” during the postgame revelry.

You mean this chaplain? https://twitter.com/eshiler/status/576952255326334977
Doubt it.
