#HLSrecap Top 25: Week 8 Recap

Welcome back to the only form of procrastination you’ll need on a Wednesday. Let’s get to it.

According to @andrewwinn, we got back down to a more manageable size with the #HLSrecap — 354 tweets from 115 contributors, with 20 first-timers making the cut this week. We now have over 350 unique contributors to at least one #HLSrecap this year.

As you know, each week we present the following highly-coveted (and yet totally arbitrary) accolades:

Here now is our Athletic Director, @FakeSwarbrick, who spent the second half of Saturday’s game tearing up invitations from third-tier bowl games.

Saturday’s game was like an ESPN 30 for 30 film.

What if I told you that the Notre Dame-Air Force football game was on a network that most people didn’t have access to? And it would be a blowout BY Notre Dame? And a lot of people would stop following it after halftime? And there was very little angst, anxiety, or thoughts of suicide? And no one really knows if BK’s nipples ever made an appearance? And when it was all over, @IrishElvis had slim pickings for #HLSrecap?

The only thing normal about Saturday’s game was that most everyone was still drunk or finding an excuse to get drunk. But we being, you know, us, we can always find something to pick at. If we couldn’t complain about the team then we could always complain about the announcing or officiating. But a win is a win, unless you’re Arizona State or Michigan State – in which case a close loss to Notre Dame is as good as a win and you are still nationally ranked.

Nevertheless there were still some outstanding performances this weekend and you’ll see some familiar names plus some new ones. As with all folks receiving stickers, I strongly recommend you give them a follow.

@HLS_NDtex – there’s a reason he’s number one. Even with only a half’s worth of tweeting the guy was on fire. Tex has that great blend of Notre Dame fan rage coupled with insightful comments. So when he goes off on a profanity-laced tear, he’s actually talking real football. Or maybe it was the booze. It could go either way. BONUS: his meltdown at the end of the Cowboys game Sunday was one for the ages.

@Dixie_Domer – I’ll admit it. I was conflicted on this one. I reviewed his work and there wasn’t one thing that jumped out at me. But during the USAFA game Dixie was like that reliable short yardage back who is always good for 2-3 yards. He kept feeding us a steady diet of drunk (man, we are always drunk….) tweets that led to him naked-Tweeting and almost being arrested. Well done.

@MrMayhem75 – Tweeting porn all from his desk at work. This guy managed to bring it AND get paid, and also apparently sexually propositioned @IrishElvis in order to make it to #HLSRecap. No need for sex here, Mayhem. Here’s your sticker.

@OptimisticDomer – I don’t know who this is but I clearly have no problem with people who run Twitter accounts anonymously. He (let’s call him “he”) started out a little slow when he created this account but has hit his mid season stride. I found myself wishing I had thought of a couple of those zingers, and his new avi is primo. Keep it up, whoever you are.

@Alyssanicoleee9 – I share 12 followers with this gal (who is hawt, by the way) and the rest of you are missing out. Snark, sass, potty mouth, and oh by the way hawt, she’s a fun follow. NOTE TO SELF: using “hawt” in place of “hot” looks stupid. Don’t do it again.

@taxbastard – Notre Dame football plus vicodin. No need to say more.

@dapremonster – just consistently funny, plain and simple. A mandatory follow if you like to laugh. I’d love to get smashed with this guy but he’d probably bail out and leave me holding the check. And I wouldn’t even mind, bro.

T.R.O.L.L. Point Update

I don’t care if he does get a Brick Helmet Sticker, @HLS_NDtex left at halftime to attend his high school reunion. He’ll tell you there was alcohol and a sweet band; I’ll tell you that missing the second half of a blowout game earns you minus-2 T.R.O.L.L. Points.

@oaknd1 attended the game and was not able to send tweets due to poor cell phone reception. He also had the nerve to broadcast the ND game on the CBS Sports Network instead of NBC…and told NO ONE of this development. Minus-2 T.R.O.L.L. Points.

@PDXirish attended the game and WAS able to send tweets despite the poor cell reception. This probably means she’s a witch, but since we’re no longer allowed to burn witches, I’ll award her minus-2 T.R.O.L.L. Points, which is just as painful a punishment.

I’ve heard rumblings about “too many HLS authors sit atop the #HLSrecap rankings.” I’m not sure what difference that makes, but I’ll throw @PootND 3 T.R.O.L.L. Points to move him up the leader board since he’s the most un-HLS person I can think of.

And finally, you may recall last week’s saga with Storify and Twitter not displaying the 4th Quarter tweets from the SC game. Storify and Twitter did end up resolving the issue after 5 business days, but that didn’t stop @MrMayhem75 from threatening their hamsters and destroying them via meme format. For all of this on top of a #BrickHelmetSticker, I’m awarding 7 T.R.O.L.L. Points for his effort, which moves him firmly into the “others receiving votes” category.
