Her Loyal Readers! You guys are the FREAKING BOMB! Seriously, love you guys.
About 6 years ago this nerd DMQ asked a few guys to join this site he’d started. We started writing, mostly making fun of one another. And then at some point, other people started reading. Then pretty soon we have a thousand page views in a month. A THOUSAND. It was nuts. We wrote some more.
Most of the original guys bailed, but DMQ and I sallied forth, and lo and behold, tens of thousands of pages were read. WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON? We moved to 2.0 and brought in some other guys. Most didn’t last more than a month. Poot came, pissed everyone off, then left. Tex joined and has kicked ass since. DMQ retired.
The rollercoaster of HLS went up and down, and the Readers stuck with us. Loyal is the right word for you guys! But a crossroads was upon us, and I wasn’t sure. For about 5 seconds I wasn’t sure if I wanted to double down and really make this thing big.
5. Whole. Seconds.
We doubled down. Brought in the new guys who have been ABSOLUTELY KILLING IT for HLS every day, every week. And the numbers have shown it. We’ve had our best 3 month run EVER including our best single month EVER, at the most dead part of the year. It’s a great response and it makes us feel really, really great about what we’re doing.
But while the content has been there, we haven’t felt like the site was there yet. Bring on 3.0. Tex and Flannerite have been working tirelessly on this redesign, and the work they’ve done has been really, really cool. I have to give a HUGE thank you to those guys, who really did ALL the heavy lifting. What they’ve built will allow the rest of us to bring you so much more, and better, Michigan Hate and Purdue Mocking. It will be so NON-PURDUE! You will likely have to bear with us as we work out a few kinks here and there, but I have no doubt that you’ll absolutely love the experience.
What will stay the same is the team and the voice. A bit irreverent, very opinionated, very loyal, and hopefully a reasonable voice in a very unreasonable CFB world. What will be different will be the layout, the navigation, and the content options – so many more ways to waste time at work, and reasons to ignore your girlfriend! Hooray!
And most importantly, a big thank you to all of Her Loyal Readers out there. Without you guys, this site would probably just be MQ and I mocking one another. Except MQ would’ve left and I’d have been here all alone. #sad. Thanks for reading, for commenting, for telling your friends about us, and for engaging in general. You guys are the absolute best.
Farewell to HLS 2.0 – you served us well, and it was a great run. We’ll see you in 3.0.

I just realized something…with 3.0 coming out, I can no longer blame MQ for anything.

It is completely fair to continue to blame the guy who left the room. Heck, we have a President who has been doing that for nearly 4 years (oh, sorry … should not drift in to politics ….).
That is expected from politicians. Us bloggers are held to a higher standard.
