The Team? Charlie? Nah, me.
Before the season I posted my game-by-game predictions of the season. Let’s go backand take a look at those and see if I am the true descendent of Nostradamus that I portend to be:
SDSU:Â
Predicted W 24-7
Actual    W 21-13
One for one baby! While the score was slightly closer than I put out there, this is a pretty solid first try (by me). I didn’t feel great after this win though, gotta admit it. Not the greatest effort from the team, and we knew we needed improvement. While my score prediction was close, my ‘we’ll run the ball at will’ call was waaaaaay off.
Michigan (sucks):
Predicted W 14-7
Actual     W 35-17
I thought this would be more of a defensive battle, I could’ve never put the Skunkbears down for THAT MANY turnovers, or that they’d suck so bad that it would enable DomerMQ to write the amazing post below. Here was my call a few months back: “Michigan is going to be a freaking mess. Maybe not 2007 ND in Ann Arbor MESS…”  I was off there. Michigan is sucking ND 2007 style. It is glorious. And I’m 2 for 2.
MSU:
Predicted L 21-17
Actual     L 23-7
I actually think my predicted score is closer to how close the game actually was than the final score here – if that makes any sense. I hate that I was right here, but MSU features experience and a heckuvah running game. 3 for 3. Someone pass me a beer, I’ve earned it. My money quote here:
“MSU’s ground game is solid, and is complemented by a basic and functional passing game that helps them move the chains. ND’s defense will bend but not break, and the offense will move the ball. But it will be a tough back and forth battle, and one I think ND will drop. Yes, super sad.” Seriously, super sad Biscuit-from-the-past. Super sad.
Purdue (yaaaaawn):
Predicted W 31-20
Actual    W 38-21
This was a solid prediction by yours truly – look at that score differential baby! I didn’t anticipate that the offense would come alive QUITE as much as it did, but man I am glad we got it figured out in this game – it’s going to serve us the rest of the year.  My biggest miss in this prediction? Calling Painter “solid”. That kid blew it this year.
Oh, and we did see Purdue set a record for a team putting people to sleep…
Stanford:
Predicted W 31-10
Actual     W 28-21
I called for a route in this game, and going into the 4th quarter it looked like I was going to be right on.  Then, we stopped playing. It wasn’t Wisconsin-vs-Michigan(sucks)-bad, but it was pretty bad and screwed up my prediction of a blowout.  ND needs to learn to put teams away early in the 3rd, and keep that foot on the throat until they simply give up fighting. Killer instinct? Needed.
I also underestimated how much this game would make me hate Stanford and Harbaugh. I actually liked that guy prior to his whine-fest 2008 over a call that was clearly right. Have some cheese with that, buddy.
UNC:
Ouch. I hate that I was right here.
Predicted L 24-21Â (but called it a toss-up – had no idea how literally that would hold to be true)
Actual    L 29-24
I called this the ‘weirdness of playing at UNC’ and that was 100% true. Very, very weird game. And disappointing.
That makes me 6 for 6 in calling games, and the Irish 4-2 at the midpoint. I am shocked and awed at my success given how amazingly wrong I was last year (calling 8-4 and missing by a FREAKING MILE) and somewhat okay with the Irish at 4-2. I think we could’ve just as easily been 6-0, but realistically, we could also be sitting at 3-3 or 2-4 if we didn’t pull out some games with turnovers (SDSU on the half inch line in particular). So, I’m okay at 4-2. Satisfied? No. But not upset either.
Since I’m clearly a genius and have mental abilities that you all wish you could have, I’ll re-share the rest of my predictions so we can know what’s going to happen before it happens. Again.  And if any of you want me to give you a lottery number or something to make you rich? Suck it, I’ve got those numbers right here for the Super Mega Lotto Bajillions and I’m keeping that shite for myself. See you in the Caribbean biz-natches!
BYE:Â ND Wins
UW:Â ND Wins 17-14Â (Not very comfortable with this score call anymore, but I’m not changing things now)
Pitt: ND Loses 28-24 (I put this game as a toss-up)
BC:Â ND Wins 28-10Â (Today I think we’ll win 1 of 2 between Pitt and BC, and literally have no clue which. If forced, I might switch my prediction W to Pitt and my prediction L to BC, but would still not be comfortable)
Navy: ND Wins 38-21
Syracuse:Â ND Wins 42-7
USC:Â ND Loses 28-14
Final Predicted Record:Â 8-4
Here’s to hoping I’m fairly wrong and we see a 9-2 team rolling into USC. Is it possible? Yes! So screw my predictions, and GOOOOOOO IRISH!

I called for a route in this [Stanford] game…
Don’t be shy, Coach Biscuit. Tell us which route you called for: hitch, post, slant, hook, fly, curl, crossing, or comeback? And did you offer your offensive wisdom gratis, or are you a route seller?
The Biscuit
Thanks a lot there smarty mcsmarty pants – I am much better off now that you’ve snarkily pointed out that I accidentally typed an e onto the end of the word. ‘preciate it. (make sure to remind me that I’m missing a ‘p’ there at the beginning there too in my completely-english-rule-ignoring shortening of the word ‘appreciate’.)
