Loyal Readers, the Advent season is upon us. As we prepare for the coming of Christmas, our minds often go to giving–not just in terms of gifts to our families, but to charity as well.
On this holiday season, I have two drives to highlight within not just the Notre Dame community, but our little slice of blogging and podcasting the Irish.
Rakes Report Christmas Giving
After a very successful drive last year, Chris, aka @rakesofmallow of the Rakes Report, is firing up another drive for the Center for the Homeless in South Bend. His initial goal has already been met, but that shouldn’t (and hasn’t yet!) stop you from donating to this worthy cause.
Personally, I feel like we shouldn’t stop until we hit $5,459–the total number of offensive yards gained by the Irish this season.
Extra Life – Gamin’ 4 Aven
This is one I’m running for the second year in a row. You may remember the story of Aven. After my call to help his family with medical expenses, y’all came through.
Sadly, Aven lost his battle with Leukemia at just two years old.
Last year, while listening to a video game podcast, I decided to take some action and participate in Extra Life. Tonight, at 7pm CT/8pm ET, I will kick off a 24-hour gaming marathon in his honor once again. Money raised will benefit the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Oklahoma City, which was the local network that he received care at.
You can watch me live on Twitch, donate directly to my drive here, and this year I’m giving an option to join team Gamin’ 4 Aven here.
Many thanks in advance for your generosity. The Notre Dame family never ceases to amaze.
