With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, we — the Elvii of college football — have joined together to present our weekly playoff nominations to keep the selection committee honest. We call it the T.C.B. Poll.
Playoff Rankings: Week 7
Each week, the T.C.B. Poll is an aggregate of all our inputs. Scroll down to see individual selections and opinions — this is how we’d like to see the College Football Playoff if we had to narrow the field *right now* to determine a national champion. Images courtesy The Helmet Project.

No change in my poll:
- Ohio State – You stay #1 until you lose
- TCU – Can Bob Stoops crush the Frogs next month?
- LSU – Up from number 4 last week. Tiger Stadium was electric Saturday night. After the game Les Miles said, “Good to see ya King.” LSU Elvis and Les are quite the combo!
- Utah – New to the Top 4..The Utes seem to be prime to be the Pac 12 rep in the top 4
Dropped: Michigan State.
@AuburnElvis
With Auburn’s Thursday night game, Saturday was strangely relaxing for me. It also allowed me to get a jump on my poll picks, so let’s see where we are:
- SEC Champion (LSU) – Well, something happened that every other team in the nation was afraid of: LSU developed a passing game. That, combined with Texas A&M’s horrible offensive performance vs. Alabama, and the Bayou Bengals are my new SEC Frontrunner.
- TCU – They keep winning, and that’s good enough.
- Utah – If they make it through the Pac-12 unbeaten (and Stanford will have something to say about that), we won’t be able to write them off as a de facto Mid-Major any more.
- Michigan State – It’s happening. There’s no way the Spartans are the 4th-best team in the country, but who cares? If they can beat Ohio State, they’re in.
@HawkeyeElvis
There was some Good Rockin’ Tonight in the Hawkeye Elvis household! A few of the national pundits have finally noticed that we are still undefeated. Again, I’m not ready to put the Hawks in our vaunted Top Four. But let’s see who’s left standing in a few weeks. In the meantime…
- Ohio State – Things are back on track for that B1G showdown with Sparty on November 21st.
- LSU – Speaking of big showdowns, I hope @TheLSUElvis is ready for his on November 7th against Bama.
- TCU – Should we just fast-forward to their game with Baylor?
- Clemson – Right now I think the Tigers have the edge over Utah. I don’t trust the Pac-12 right now. Still a couple of danger games for the Utes.
On deck – Utah, Baylor, Michigan State
@IrishElvis
The LSU Elvis is getting some serious love in this week’s poll, and I’m going to need Hawkeye Elvis’ help in talking to my child about an undefeated Iowa. Things are happening in 2015, and I feel like the madness is just beginning…
- Ohio State: Ho hum. Their 3-game schedule begins a month from now: Michigan State, Michigan, B1G Title Game.
- TCU: Haven’t played anyone terribly difficult, but their schedule is still twice as rigorous as Baylor’s
- Utah: Currently undefeated with the nation’s 6th toughest schedule. They may deserve the #2 slot.
- Clemson: I’m confident that the Fightin’ Sabans will figure out a way to play 15 men on defense to stop Leornard Fournette in a couple weeks. Until we have a dearth of undefeated teams, my top four will continue to feature teams with perfect records.
