That title is about all the funny I can muster. I’m writing with a good amount of emotion and in many ways feel like I helped put down Old Yeller, but I am nevertheless announcing that Tex is no longer affiliated with Her Loyal Sons. If you read the embarrassment that played our on Twitter earlier today, you know why.
His work on this site has been incredible and he stood up for me on several occasions when my gaffes threatened the legitimacy of what we do here. When I became Assistant Editor, I did my best to fill his awfully big shoes. Ironically, I met him for the first time two weekends ago and can state that his real feet are actually rather small. But, regardless, his absence will be enormous here. We wish him well, especially in his upcoming nuptials. If you read this, Tex, you’ll understand that I absent myself from your bachelor party festivities here in New Orleans.
To you, the loyal reader who was offended by Tex’s post today, we’re sorry for your hurt and confusion. We thought it would be obvious that, Women’s hoops aside, anything on the site today would be a joke. But, given today’s experience, we’re going to (have to) go forward in a new direction: positive posts that respect and recognize the vibrancy of everything ND has to offer. That means more hoops, lacrosse, baseball, and everything else that makes us love thee Notre Dame.
We hope you stick with us.
