North Texas, Arkansas State, UTEP, Murray State, Buffalo, Jacksonville State.
These are not fictional schools in a bad college movie. These are a list of the majority of your Top 10’s Week 1 opponents. And I really, really don’t mean to offend these schools. But to make the point, unfortunately they are friendly fire. These opponents are a Week 1 joke.
COME ON NOW PEOPLE! Have just a little pride. A little moxie. Step up to the plate and play an ACTUAL GAME IN WEEK 1!
This is the travesty that is Week 1 football. That’s what this post is on. “Post” I use lightly. Let’s go with rant. RANTING TIME BABY YEAH! We’ve gotten great at analysis and insightful discussion at HLS but a good ole fashion RANT is needed.
Besides, there’s nothing to talk about Purzzzzzzzzz…
I mean, they are just so boring. Purduzzzzzzzzzz.
Damn, nevermind. BACK TO THE RANT!
Alabama stepped up to the plate. Michigan did the same, and the plate promptly punched them in the face. South Carolina played Vanderbilt, which compared to the teams outlined above was like playing the Pittsburgh Steelers. But most top teams essentially take the week off. And why? Because nobody cares! Nobody gets dinged for playing nobody. And that’s absurd. Oh yeah, LSU took care of business. Against a JV HIGH SCHOOL TEAM. WHY DO WE NOT DROP THEM FOR DOING THIS????
You’re telling me that LSU maintains its ranking for beating a team that can barely show up? Come ON voters. DING THESE WEAK-@$$ schedules! It’s absurd.
The best part of the new selection committee/playoff thingy coming in the future will be the impact it has on scheduling these patsy games (I am hoping). And it can’t get here soon enough. Navy isn’t a world-beater, especially this year, but it’s a decent program that’s been bowl-bound most seasons in the recent past. JACKSONVILLE ISN’T EVEN A STATE.
Sack up, fellas. Let’s play some real ball.
End Rant. Back to Puzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
