20-1!!!!! The Commemorative Shirt

January 21, 2012 by Matt Q. (DMQ)

In commemoration of Syracuse basketball’s monumental achievement of reaching a record of 20-1 this evening, the Her Loyal Sons Monumental Mint has crafted these fine t-shirts.

Don’t miss your opportunity to remember this day forever. Purchase your shirt, cherish it forever, and be sure to make your children wear it 20 years from now!

I thought you were joking until I went to the link. Funny stuff.

Okay, so Biscuit goes on a rant about the plethora of versions of The Shirt and how in it’s current format does not benefit the team. Now we have yet another shade of gold shirt to clutter my drawer that won’t benefit the team. If you can sell them more power to you. I still have my memories from January ’74 when we beat UCLA and “29-clap,clap- and 1-clap,clap” over the Dons. I still have my MVP trophy in a case on the mantle.

I entirely agree with Squeeze. Why is this Syracuse’s color? Shouldn’t we use the color/s of the home team?

Personally, I think a Royal Blue shirt with a picture of the Leprechaun squishing an orange under his foot or in his fist would have been epic.

But that would’ve required us to actually design something and try to wiggle around copyright laws. It is far easier for us to sell out in this lazy fashion that we have.

Some people around here don’t really understand sarcasm well, and that’s kind of dangerous for this site. I predict a number of frustrating moments if y’all don’t get a bit of a sense of humor soon.

The Muck Fichigan shirts were in maize and blue, a number of other sarcastically honorary shirts were in the visiting team colors…

The issue with putting those shirts in the color of the team you’re mocking… is when they get worn IN the stadium. A bunch of students had created red shirts that said “The N is for nowledge” for that Nebraska game in 2000. Then they wore them to the game and actually contributed to the problem.

Worry not. Total shirt sales to date: 0.

Mostly I just did this to mock Syracuse’s 20-0 shirt. So I win. If anyone had actually bought a single shirt, we’d have made $1. So we’d have won just a little more. But nobody bought any shirts, so we only win at the base level.

I bought one for my wife for Valentine’s Day. I’ll let you know about the divorce proceedings in about a month…

I hope our students/fans come out in force next season at ‘Cuse with these on.

Can you make it just a tad orangeier so Digger can match his highlighter to it on Saturday’s gameday?
