Did ND practice? The only one that really impressed me was Woods. Rees did okay. MF looked good except he caused a huge penalty as did almost every member made big mistakes.

Crist had a good first drive, but crumbled after Gray’s fumble. He reacts poorly to Kelly’s intense coaching and becomes tentative as a result. The quality Kelly prizes in his QBs above all others is mental toughness, and Crist didn’t show much today. I suspect Rees will get the starting job soon (maybe not for Michigan, but eventually).
Jonas Gray was put into the game on third-and-one to score the first TD. Instead, he got stripped and it was going the other way. He cannot be trusted to hang on to the ball. This is a bad situation, as we need someone to take the pressure off of Cierre Wood, who had a fine game.
Theo Riddick had a poor game as a punt returner. Abysmal, tentative. Imagine him in front of 108,000 baying lunatics next weekend…
The two-point attempt…I can see the rationale of going to Floyd, the best player on either team. But short side fade? Needs a perfect throw, and unfortunately, Rees didn’t make one then. Why not a slant, or even a power run (especially after it was at the 1 1/2 yard line)?
Foolish, brainless penalties by Gary Gray extended drives and cost valuable minutes. Even Ruffer was not immune.
Extremely disappointing. That four-game winning streak and the bowl win? Meaningless.

This loss is a dual effort from coach/team. Kelly should’ve started Rees, obv. and the five turnovers killed us.
Reminded me A LOT of Charlie-era ND: super talened team plays lackluster for three quarters and then decides it’s time to come back. Mounts a comeback and caves in the final seconds. Boy, I forgot how fun it was to watch those games.
Bright side: We have 500 yards of offense. Defense played decently in second half. If we’re gonna beat Umich, Rees starts, the D plays four quarters, and we have NO TURNOVERS. Otherwise we get spanked.
Loathe having to “recalibrate” my expectations every year. South Flordia?! C’mon. We should’ve beaten them by three TDs.

I was worried this EXACT thing would happen. Get behind early, crowd is demoralized and it waterfalls from there. There were a couple of bright sides, D is legit when they dont do something STUPID at the end of plays(3 15-yard PF???) Wood will be a legit replacement for allen/hughes, and Rees will prob become the starter the rest of the yr, as should have been the case going into USF

To be fair, none of us had the benefit of seeing every rep taken by Crist and Rees from the spring onward. Accordingly, I’m willing to say that Crist did better, by however small or large a margin. Kelly is not stupid enough to choose a manifestly inferior QB. But Crist melted after his pick, and Kelly went with Rees.

Tommy Gun can find Floyd and Dayne just cant.. I mean, Riddick clears the field on a post, Floyd drags under with a LB on his back and Dayne throws a sissy lob that gets picked. If I were CK I would blow a rod too. I agree, Dayne goes in the tank after CK gets warmed up! Reese can deal with it and give the boy credit, he can make some good reads guys.
