Link: Jarron Jones Commits To ND
Jones becomes the 14th verbal commitment for the Irish in the Class of 2012 and the second defensive lineman, joining Sheldon Day from Indianapolis. Rated as an offensive lineman by ESPN, Jones is a four-star ESPNU Top 150 prospect, but other services rate him as a five-star defender.
That gives Brian Kelly six…that’s right SIX 4*/5* DL recruits in the last 2 recruiting classes. Not bad for a small-timey coach who didn’t know how to recruit with the ‘big boys.’
Jones is a 6’7″ 300 lb behemoth. So in a year or two, we could see this front 5:
Dog LB: Troy Niklas (6-7)
DE: Aaron Lynch (6-6)
NT: Stephon Tuitt (6-7)
DE: Jarron Jones (6-6)
OLB: Ishaq Williams (6-5)

With that defensive lineup, the FCC may force us off NBC and onto some cable channel: The things those beasts can do to the human body may be nothing short of grisly, not suitable for family viewing.
Brad
You do have a point. I think with the incoming defensive talent, they will likely have to move ND games over to the Discovery channel, Animal Planet, or maybe National Geographic. People who are used to watching lions take down wildebeasts may not notice much of a difference when these defensive lineman take down a QB.
Plus, it may help to have those “The content of this programming is extremely graphic. Viewer discretion is advised” warning prior to coming back on the air. We don’t want to scare the kids at home.

The FCC hasn’t taken action against Tom Hammond yet, meaning we could probably get away with actual murder on the field

Great Get!!!! Big Wins = Big Recruits = Big Future! GO IRISH!!! is it game time yet?

Huge get!! Now let’s beat USF and get us some running backs.

Fantastic news! What a get!
But, no way that line exists without LNIII.
Nate
that was my thought. Is Nix going to be ineligible do to eating BC’s QB or something?
Brad
I think the point was merely to show a possible configuration on the front of the defense which would have our tallest guys out there. With all the talent we have coming in on the defensive line, there will likely be multiple configurations, as Diaco’s biggest problem (and luxury) will soon be swapping these guys in and out to get them all playing time (and keep them fresh).
Also, when you put together a hypothetical and incredibly impressive defensive front like that, and you AREN’T including the man, the myth, the legend, LNIII….well, thats says something now, doesn’t it?
What an amazing set of talent we are building. This must be what Alabama and Texas fans feel like all the time.

LN3 is actually 7’8″ tall. He chooses to morph into a 6’3″ body so as to better get beneath the pads of opposing centers and drive them into the end zone, flattening the QB en route.

I just saw a news flash. LNIII has reportedly eaten Tuitt. When asked why he did it, he kept saying “poot is wrong! That’s my spot! Poot is wrong!”
PootND
Brad is right, I was just trying to show the ridiculous height that we could have along the D.
The Biscuit
Ah, didnt catch that. But isn’t LNIII more than 6’7″ WIDE? He could lie down on his side and keep the trend going…
kyndfan
Nice!
Brad
You know, with a lineup like that suggested by Poot, our pass defense should be pretty good. We wouldn’t even need to rush the QB. They could all just stand up, and hold their arms up in the air.

I was jawing with one of the “small-timey” crowd, and got the come-back: “Well, he hasn’t landed any top tier RBs yet”. Ooooo… the talking point shifts.
