That’s right, LSU. I dropped them 8 spots vs the Coaches’ Poll. Due to this:
LSU Players Face Felony Charges
So LSU has lost its starting Quarterback and the leader of the team. Ouch. Some folks say this doesn’t matter much. After all, Lee has experience, right? I don’t agree with that line of thinking. Jefferson was the outspoken leader of the team, he had clearly won the starting QB battle, and all of this while being WILDLY MEDIOCRE last year. So if this is the guy that WON the battle, what are you getting with Lee? Not much.
And don’t forget that more players may be pulled into the bar brawl mess. Backup LB Joshua Johns is headed to jail with Jefferson, and Offensive Lineman Chris Davenport and WR Jarvis Landry could also be arrested, suspended, etc. While none are key players, every little bit of depth loss hurts in a long SEC season.
But that’s not all. The team was already dealing with the suspension of a guy they were leaning on to be a big playmaker, WR Russel Shepard for NCAA cheating stuff. Shepard won’t miss the entire season, but he’ll miss at least a few games while seeking reinstatement.
AND…all of this is happening while breaking in a new Offensive Coordinator. It’s tough to adjust to a new coordinator and new system when everyone stays on board. Now it’s going to be really, really tough.
Throw on top of this a schedule that starts with a game in Texas vs Oregon, and then they play WVU, Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas. I see at least 3 losses in there, so 12 is the best they get.
The upside is that Miles will continue to be a master of clock management, and the defense will be good.

12. LSU (Biscuit)
13. Virginia Tech (PootND)
14. Stanford (DMQ)
15. Florida (Biscuit)
16. Notre Dame (PootND)
17. TCU (DMQ)
18. Georgia (Biscuit)
19. Michigan State (PootND)
20. Texas (DMQ)
21. Ole Miss (Biscuit)
22. Mississippi State (PootND)
23. South Carolina (DMQ)
24. Ohio State (Biscuit)
25. Arizona State (PootND)
Now Poot will flip out because I placed a team more than 1 spot from where they are in the Coaches’ Poll. In 3…2…1…
Don't take me, yourself, or life so seriously. This is supposed to be fun.
Biscuit co-founded HerLoyalSons in partnership with his ND roommate (Dillon Hall baby!), MQ, in 2006 and has been ranting about ND Football and everything Notre Dame since. He strongly believes in the mission of ND and its football program. Biscuit expects logic and data in arguments and will absolutely crush you if you come to a debate missing one or the other. He despises everything Michigan, and his favorite pastime is mocking Purdue.
