We’ve had such a darn good time defending our Top 25 Irish Players over the last couple of weeks, we thought it would be even more fun to defend ourselves from… ourselves. In another Top 25. This time, a pre-season Top 25 College Football Teams. This time, however, rather than leaving myself and myself alone up for near-daily bombardments of virtually rotten tomatoes for my own picks, the “regular” staff of HLS will be teaming up and squaring off in a rather unusual format for a Top 25 ranking.
Oh! Hey Poot! Couldn’t hear ya! I was busy making another Top 25. With a banana in my ear.
Very soon, Poot will unveil his pick for the 2011 HLS Preseason Top 25. And hopefully not long after that, sometime this weekend, Biscuit will make his pick for #24. I’ll be offline for a bit here, but not long after that, I’ll make my pick for #23, defend myself, wait a couple of days to look at my e-mail inbox or twitter account, and then we’ll start the rotation all over again.
Half the fun will be in watching Poot squirm, as there’s little doubt he’s already charted multiple permutations of possible top 25 picks, seeking a way to pick the final, #1 team in the 2011 HLS Top 25 without feeling embarrassed. After all, he’s got to hope I don’t do something nuts with my #23 pick, like slot in Oklahoma in there. Just in setting this up, we’ve found we all, clearly, have different ideas about where Notre Dame should be ranked – if at all.
So we hope y’all will have fun with this. Participate. Make wild demands about our next picks. Offer us bribes to ranks a particular team in a particular spot (note: I’m really responsive to bribes). Pick on Poot no matter what he does. This should be fun. We remember how to have fun around here, right?
