HLS Expert Picks Week 1 Results: Start With a Dud!

September 4, 2007 by domer.mq

Also a dud.

Well, we all pretty much sucked at making picks this week. Our previous champion is currently in the penultimate position. Meanwhile, HLS Expert Picks newcomer, The Bear had a debut about as solid as the new ND offensive line. And most of us are losing to a dog.

The results of the games:

ND/Georgia Tech: The entire panel picked Notre Dame to win this one, and it looks like we expected a close game. We were wrong on all fronts. In fact, we’d all have done just as well if we’d used the old SAT strategy of not answering the question at all. Winner: GT Total Score: 36

Cal/Tennessee: The panel was pretty evenly split here in picking a winner, but it seems nobody except Biscuit expected the scoring fireworks that took place. Hey, speaking of scoring fireworks, anyone see the final score of the Michigan/App State game? Winner: Cal Total Score: 86

FSU/Clemson: Those who picked FSU to win must have really downed some Jimbo Fisher Kool-Aid. Anyone notice that Bobby Bowden doesn’t even bother to wear a head-set anymore? Winner: Baby Bowden Total Score: 42

Quarterback Bonus: Despite the fact that Tennessee couldn’t stop Cal, and Tennessee’s Ainge had a broken finger on his throwing hand, Tennessee’s QB managed to throw for 270 yards, better than the other 5 QBs in the HLS Expert Picks pool.

And the scores thus far:

Player This Week’s Score Total
Biscuit 50 50
Bad Kermit 45 45
Sed’s Dog 35 35
Dneelan 20 20
ChisND 20 20
domer.mq 20 20
Sed 15 15
The Bear 10 10

  1. The Biscuit

Dude, are you high? I was on fire. I picked everything right on, within 7 points for each game, except for ND’s loss. That’s bad?

And if Ainge and his miracle pinky wouldnt have thrown for 20 yards more than my Cal pick, I’d have had that nailed too. I was solid.

How Kermit called Ainge is beyond me. I take back my mocking comments Kermit, though they were funny. And you know it.

  2. The Bear

Well, I just wanted to start out at the bottom to pay my respects to veteran experts. Didn’t want to show you guys up right off the bat.

  3. Bad Kermit

Biscuit, you were mocking me? Didn’t really notice. I started off hot last year and finished the year luke warm. If I had picked GT like my first instinct told me to, you bitches would be eating dust. And I would be a traitor to my country.
