The BCS Championship game is being played this evening. Here are all the reasons I can think of why this game is the most forgotten BCS Championship ever:
- ESPN already crowned Ohio State the Champions back in January ’06, thus leaving “casual fans” confused and scared.
- The 2006/07 season already featured 15 “games of the century.” It just makes no sense that the championship game isn’t one of them.
- Fox Sports has hyped this game about as much as my old golfing buddy hyped his cold sore. Color me suspicious, but I think this is some clever assault by Fox Sports on College Football to kill interest in the game and pave a clear path for total NFL domination during fall weekends, meaning more television revenue for Fox.
- College Football fans include a higher population density of College Graduates than the pool of Pro Football Fans, and none of us can rationalize the football playing robot graphic.
- The Championship Game is in the same freaking venue as another bowl game just a week before, and as luck would have it, that previous bowl game featured the best contest of all the BCS matches. This just feels like Fiesta Bowl Part 2, and sequels are never as good as the original.
- The Media has run out of ways to point out how much of a saint Troy Smith has become now that he has found redemption.
- The Media has been covering Ohio State’s transgressions off the field 24/7/365 since their last NC. How much more coverage can they really supply to the world?
- We haven’t seen Ohio State play football in 52 days. By our calculations, a lot has happened, including a world population increase of around 10,000,000 people. That’s a lot of people who have no idea what sort of mess the BCS has become.
- Urban Meyer has all the charisma of a depressed librarian overdosing on Nyquil.
- With ND getting blown out in their game, and Louisville/Wake Forest grabbing the attention of about 6 people nationwide, most of the fans forgot that the “Bowl Bash” is still going. It’s been an entire week since a quality college football game has been played. Way to really take advantage of all that momentum, BCS!
- Most of the residents of Florida are actually from Ohio.
Have your own ideas as to why nobody’s actually interested in tonight’s game?  Feel free to share.

We already know who’s going to be next year’s National Champion.
Those jokers on ESPN/ABC declaired that the winner of “The Rose Bowl Game” (not the be confused with the parade) would be the number one team at the start of next season, and therefore the end of the season too, since they’re never wrong.
Did Booty win the Heisman yet?

Empire Strikes Back. That is all.

There’s no Hurricane Katrina tie-in, nor any other natural disaster angle which could provide heartwarming stories that the two teams are helping contribute to the recovery, healing or catharsis process for the poor, long-suffering residents of Glendale, AZ.

Bad Kermit,
That’s just an exception that proves the rule. Like Rad 2.

I was quoting The Big Lebowski, to use the parlance of our times. Did I inadvertently unleash his inner serial killer? If so… Sorry?

Sorry, believe it or not I’ve never seen the movie. My bad for flunking Must See Movies 101.
The Vietnamese Restaurant presser was courtesy of the power of Google; I was interested to see if there was any quick connection between Glendale and Vietnam, and that one popped right up.
