As Kermit mentioned yesterday, The Smith was fired from The Michigan State University.
Today the speculatin’ and hootin’ and hollerin’ and what-not begin. And a Michigan (SUCKS!) paper has mentioned the unmentionable as a possible candidate for the job:
Tyrone Willingham, University of Washington head coach
Pros: Former MSU player has integrity and extensive head-coaching experience. Also has NFL ties.
Con: Coaching ability
disprovedquestioned when fired from Notre Dame.
Lord, I don’t ask for much. I mean, I was really only kidding when I asked for that car, the new job, a woman who would hold me. And I know you came thru in a big way in the past, but I need to ask you for this one little favor: PLEASE LET THIS HAPPEN. See, the University of Washington is, well, far away. And Notre Dame doesn’t play them much. And few things would put a spring in the step of the world’s children like a yearly match-up between Weis and Ty Willie. So please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please with whipped cream and a cherry on top, make this happen. Please! I swear I will never, ever, ask for anything again. Ever. Seriously. I mean it this time.
If nothing else, think of the comedic value as Ty tries to recruit against Michigan, OSU, and Notre Dame.

The only thing that could be better than this would have been if Lasorda would have retired and the Cardinals would have hired Dusty. Sigh.
