Charlie took his shot at examining the most recent polls, and questioned why the 11th-ranked Irish dropped below a few teams after this week’s action.
“One of the teams [Tennessee] that jumped us had the same game that we had. They’re down, they’re playing at home and they win by a field goal,” Weis said Tuesday. “Another team [Florida] that jumped us wasn’t even playing. They were home, eating cheeseburgers, and they end up jumping us. That befuddles me.”
Chuck, I am with you my man. And the end result is that anti-Notre Dame bias that you’re going to (unfortunately) have to get used to. You will be held to a higher academic standard by the administration (which is a good thing), you will be held to a higher character standard by the institution and God (another good thing) and you will be held to a higher standard in the polls, never quite getting what your competition gets (which sucks balls). You will have to be perfect to get where you want to be, and even then it’s not guaranteed.Â

But, that is the price to pay for being Irish. For being the team and program that has defined college football since the advent of the forward pass. For the opportunity to run out of that tunnel with Gold and Blue blazing in the sun all around you.
And like me, I’m sure you’d say it’s worth it.
