Back in January of 2016, Shane put together his greatest video work, highlighting the soon-to-be-fired ND defensive coordinator. It’s time to bring this work of art back to the forefront for one of the most important games the Irish will have in 2019.

Marvel at BVG’s inspirational coaching methods like asking his players if they are comfortable playing in the red zone. Watch in wonder as he questions if Jaylon Smith, now one of the highest paid linebackers in the NFL, makes anyone else around him better. See him casually slide into frame in ways that would make Chris Collinsworth jealous. Delight in his sideline hand signals that involve uncomfortable amounts of nipple grabbing.

Anyway, enough of that dreck. Notre Dame went into East Lansing this past Saturday and slapped the pants off of Michigan State 38-18 in what amounts to the final “Battle for the Megaphone Trophy” until 2026. Yeah. Its chilling at Notre Dame for the next nine freaking years. Awesome.

All that being said, its time to skip straight to the goodness you’ve come here for. GET YOU SOME!

Welcome back loyal sons and daughters! WE BACK!!! It’s been a loooooong offseason but the 2017 season is finally here, and with it, new games and new highlight videos!! Notre Dame football is back on tv, Twitter parties are back in full swing, and the booze is flowing like they just abolished prohibition.

This year, I’m going to be doing things a little differently. I can’t imagine there is a lot of desire to do a ton of reading when looking for the highlight videos, so I’m going to be skipping most of all that and just going straight to delivering the goods. I know. You’re welcome lol.

There were a couple of narratives I wanted to include in this video since its the opener and a ton happened since the last game of 2016, but Campus Crossroads is the big one, of course. Anyway, Notre Dame played Temple this past Saturday, in case you somehow live under a rock and didn’t know that. Actually no, they WHOOPED Temple 49-16. without further ado, why don’t y’all just check it out for yourselves:

What better test for this “new” defense than the Syracuse Orange and their high-octane offense under first-year head coach Dino Babers, eh? The Orange came into this game touting a top-flight offense, complimented by a somehow worse Defense than the one Notre Dame was set to trot out on Saturday. After a quick perusal of the box score OH MAN did it show. Props to this Irish coaching staff for making what few adjustments they were able to make in a week’s time, because they managed to walk away with a 50-33 victory over the Orange on a “neutral” field in the Meadowlands. Here’s hoping they can use this game as a spring board to some more improvements on D and perhaps a winning schedule! Man, that is such a depressing wish.

Anyway, enough about all that. Ryan (@NDTex) and I will go into that ad nauseam on this week’s recap podcast. What we’re here for now is some fresh-out-the-pack HIGHLIGHTS YO! GET YOU SOME!

DeShone Kizer came out as the number one man, and even though he turned the ball over, he did NOT do so in the red zone (I KNOW OMG) which cannot be overstated. I’m happy either way, as Notre Dame managed to bounce back and walk away with a decent 39-10 home victory over the Wolf Pack. Sadly, the Irish lost Shaun Crawford to yet another season-ending injury, this time to a torn achilles. I’m honestly not entirely certain it didn’t happen when he jumped up in celebration/frustration after the play. What I do know is that no matter how you slice it, it is a devastating blow to this already thin Notre Dame secondary. We will see how the team bounces back against #12 Michigan State next week. I hope he has a speedy and healthy recovery, and can’t wait to see him ball out next year.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that Malik Zaire saw mop up action effectively for the entire second half, and was honestly (as much as it pains me to say) not all too impressive. He managed just one scoring drive, and the fourth quarter effectively belonged to the Wolf Pack, albeit in a losing effort. All in all, the fact that the team was even in position to put Zaire in and let the game clock roll without issue is comforting enough for me to feel good heading into the coming weeks. We will see if in the end I eat my words though (please God spare me, my heart and liver cannot take it.)

So, guys, how was your offseason? Pretty chill? Nothing crazy happen? Any Summer love or cool unexpected friendships? It’s weird the things we end up bonding over outside of school. You know, like common experiences or shared memories, strongly impactful conversations, or maybe having a “Let’s all get arrested” party? You can’t hear it, but I am sighing SO HARD right now. The Dark Lord Notre Dame Offsezanu hath wrought his annual devastation upon the NDFB masses, but we have persevered and find ourselves less than a week away from actual Notre Dame 2016 football against an actual opponent.

Enough about all that though, because you came to get JACKED ON NDFB ENERGY, and I am here to DELIVAH! 2016 is going to be awesome you guys. Shut up, no one can hear you, little miss “9-3 if we’re lucky.” Nor you, mister “Coach-O Cinco gonna have another one of his down years.” This year is gonna kick ass and you can come back and give me internet grief in December if i’m wrong. You want proof? Just watch this modest little pump-up video and tell me you disagree.

How did those belts hold up after last year? If you need a new one, now is the time to get it cuz we’re about to ROCK THEM PANTS RIGHT THE HECK OFF!!
