There’s really no better way to describe the feeling that Shane and I have on this week’s Roundup than the title of “we don’t know.” From insane rankings to trying to preview a Notre Dame game that will feature two Jekyll and Hyde teams, we certainly try our best, but end up circling around to the same conclusion.
So why listen to this show if we’ve already spoiled the conclusion? Because it’s all about the journey…and jokes.
The Roundup
We talked about these on the recap, but had no linkage. So let’s fix that. North Dakota state trolled the hell out of Michigan for losing at Iowa when they did not. That game was a disaster of all kinds for Michigan that includes losing their star QB for the season. The title for best meltdown, however, goes to Hawaii who played so poorly their coach removed all benches from the sidelines.
One day, college football and headlines of rape and sexual assault will no longer mix. But today is not that day. Baylor, and not a source or another entity, but Baylor themselves, released a statement that removes all doubt that Art Briles knew what was going on. This week, Purdue also had four players accused of sexual assault by two different women. This. Needs. To. Stop.
Notre Dame finds themselves walking a tightrope. ESPN did an article focused on many top programs some time ago to see how many student athletes found themselves arrested and how the schools responded. Notre Dame was involved here, but they refused to release records citing that the NDPD was a private and not public entity. The Indiana Supreme court heard ESPN’s appeal and ruled this week that they agree with ND’s stance. While it certainly makes a lot of sense that ND stepped in to protect the privacy of their students on what could certainly be labeled as a fishing expedition, the precedence it creates could be dangerous if private institutions choose to use it nefariously (see: Baylor).
If Phil Knight has his way, Oregon will have the highest paid head coach. How does a $10 million dollar price tag sound? For an ex-AD of Oregon: it makes him want to throw up.
DACOACHOKEEPSGETTINFUCKEDOVER. Your front runner for the LSU job: Jimbo Fisher. Sure, Coach O is still in “consideration” but so is Larry Fedora because reasons. What reasons? See the title of the show.
Now this is a senior. 55 year old Joe Thomas Sr. is looking to make history as the oldest person to take a snap in D1 football. His story is one of the more incredible reads because this is the guy that sits at a local diner mumbling about how he could’ve helped his team win state, but actually goes and does something about it.
Never, ever stop hustling. Here’s why you play to the whistle. Get stripped? You can still score a TD.
SEEN A DEER. Got trucked by deer

If you can find this line (and you have a EU mailing address) here’s some free money. Brian Kelly is supposedly at +130 odds to come back as ND’s head coach next year according to an EU sports book that I’ve never heard of. Translation, he’s not the favorite and you can more than double your money if your bet hits. I have a feeling they realized they screwed up because Shane and I looked everywhere for this and couldn’t find it. Happy hunting.
Here’s your other free money. Eddie and I have made our picks for this week. Feel free to fade.
