Welcome loyal sons and daughters to a special presentation of HLS Videos with ya boi, SupermanTDJesus! You know what time it is? You are correct (presumably), IT’S DRAFT WEEK! This week we’ll be hitting you every day with a delightful trip down memory lane as we march closer and closer to the 2016 NFL Draft on Thursday, April 28th. Notre Dame is looking to have a great collection of players taken in this year’s draft, with the strong potential for double-digit players taken before the draft ends on Saturday, April 30th.
We’re starting off the week with a man who needs no introduction. A man whom everyone knows is near and dear to my heart, possibly one of the greatest college linebackers of this generation, Jaylon Smith (aka Murdah Train).
If you read that name and immediately feel sadness and sympathy, you are not alone. Smith’s college career ended on the heels of perhaps the worst possible injury he could have sustained, essentially destroying his right knee during the Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. Smith is about 3 1/2 months removed from knee reconstruction surgery, and is projected to miss the entire 2016 NFL season. With this in mind, Notre Dame fan-favorite NFL analyst and former NBC color man Mike Mayock has recently projected Smith to be drafted potentially as late as the 3rd round. I happen to think him dropping that far is utterly unfathomable, but hey, I’m no expert.
To commemorate the 100% guaranteed upcoming drafting of Smith to some completely blessed NFL team on Thursday or Friday, I have put together a collection of some of my favorite highlights from Smith’s outstanding Notre Dame Football career.
Here’s to you, Murdah Train. You followed me on Twitter while you were still in high school, and somehow never decided that it was no longer a good idea. For that, and, you know, literally everything else you did at Notre Dame, I salute you.
