Usually, I hate bye weeks. The anticipation of the next game drives me crazy. As Notre Dame has so often done in the past, our bye weeks tend to arrive right before some of our biggest games which doesn’t help.
This year though, it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Firstly, we had all the site issues that I had to deal with today. I’m please to report that our server move went very well and far quicker than I imagined. I still have some more work to do to optimize HLS (our caching plugin is far from optimized right now), but I am pleased with the results I’ve seen so far.
I want to thank InMotion for their help in making this transition far easier and far quicker than I expected. I also had to contact support for a couple minor issues and they were immediately addressed. It’s night and day from my “support” experiences with Dreamhost to say the least.
Second, I haven’t had a chance to re-watch the Michigan game yet and I’m dying to do so. I love going to games, but it’s impossible to do any form of analysis from where I was sitting. Plus, I really just want to watch Denard get crushed by Te’o over and over again.
Third, I’m a bit behind on the NDtex25 re-vamp which will be added as our computer poll to the HLS Top 25. I’m excited to add it in, but I still have loads of work to do.
Finally, I have tickets to the Texas Rangers this Saturday. It’s my final regular season game in the 20-pack I buy annually and I might just have a shot to watch them clinch the AL West title.
Cue Biscuit’s outrage for my mention of baseball.
The Roundup
Harvey Updyke: bat-shit crazy.
Needs more Gangnam style. I believe LSUfreek has done it yet again, folks.
Finally, we are surprising for all the right reasons. It’s about damn time.
No, Morgantown, put that can of gasoline down. West Virginia’s student council is fighting on behalf of all couches. I’m sure this PSA will work (spoiler: it totally won’t work).
Put These Games on Your Radar
To be honest, your best game this week likely happened last night with Washington’s upset of #8 Stanford. No wonder Twibby didn’t bother with a marquee game this week, most of these games are awful. Here are a couple that should entertain though:
#25 Baylor @ #9 West Virignia, 12pm EST, FX – I’ll be honest, I’m not expecting this game to be close; however, I will not discount possible Gus Johnson insanity. Also, couch burning.
Tennessee @ #5 Georgia, 3:30pm EST, CBS – I think Tennessee actually has a shot to make some noise this season. This game might be in between the hedges, but I think this could be closer than people expect.
#14 Ohio State @ #20 Michigan State, 3:30pm EST, ABC – ESPN has been showing an epic promo for this game so it has to be good…right?
Predictions
None this week, but…
Closest to the pin Week 4: I’m giving this one to Bayou. He was closest to the margin of victory and had the lowest predicted scores for both teams. That puts him as the new leader in the clubhouse with 2 weeks won with Biscuit and myself right behind with 1 a piece.
The Beer
October and playoff baseball are just around the corner, so I’m going with my weapon of choice from last year for this glorious time:
And since we have a week off from football — GO RANGERS!
