My initial plan for this week’s Roundup was to do a preview for the Navy game. Perhaps build upon my post about defending the option and talk a bit about Golson and how he would lead the offense against Navy. But then I saw this:
According to the artist, that would be Everett Golson playing a flaming piano in the mouth of a lepredragon that is flying over Ireland. After seeing this, I think its safe to say my work on a preview is done here. That picture is worth a thousand words and then some — anything other attempt to describe Golson leading the Irish would fall well short.
The Roundup
Make that three titles in a row for the SEC. And, yes, I can count. I’m just looking at a different trophy.
My how the tables have turned. Now, I’m just sure Michigan fans had the same mindset with Floyd last year, right?
This is what consistent punishment looks like in the SEC. Texas A&M is doing a fine job of fitting right in.
Because you didn’t have enough reasons to be excited for the season to start, SBN will give you 100 more.
Previewing the season via GIFs? Sure, why not.
Put These Games on Your Radar
#8 Michigan vs #2 Alabama (@ Cowboys Stadium), 8pm EST, ABC – Twibby’s Marquee Matchup
Miami (FL) @ Boston College, 3:30pm EST, ABC/ESPN2/WatchESPN – Most of the games in week 1 are awful, but at least we can do some opponent scouting.
#14 Celmson vs Auburn, 7pm EST, ESPN/WatchESPN – Could be the first Clemsoning of the season with Sammy Watkins (WR) suspended? You’ll be focused on Michigan/Alabama, but keep an eye on the score just in case.
Georgia Tech vs #16 Virginia Tech, Monday 8pm EST, ESPN/WatchESPN – Because it’s the first week of the season and why not watch a Monday night game.
Predictions
Tex: 42- 10 ND – And I think I’m being generous to Navy.
Biscuit: 31-13 ND – Via
Bayou Irish: 42-13 ND
Twibby: 42-14 ND – No Kriss Proctor, no Alexander Teich, and only one returning offensive lineman spells disaster for Navy against a Notre Dame front 7 that is returning 6 players with starting experienced and entirely shut down the Middies attack in 2011. It should be a field day for the Irish running backs, even without Cierre Wood making the trip to Dublin. Expect this one to be over early in the second half.
GrantlandX: 31-16 ND
The Beer
Seriously, the game is in Ireland how can I not pick Guinness? Also acceptable: Jameson.
