@TheLSUElvis

Laissez les bons temps rouler! (Let the good times roll!) Time for the first Elvii matchup of the year as the LSU Fighting Tigers roll into Auburn to face the Auburn Tigers. Elvis ended his 1968 Comeback special with the song “If I Can Dream” and I will be dreaming all week to come out of Auburn with a win, any way we can get it. Top 4 for the LSU Elvis…

Oregon – ducks seem to be the in pond with no other animals that can keep up

Florida State – I still have them at #2 but they seem like they want to give up the chance at back to back title each week

Oklahoma – can TCU get the upset….probably not but at least it is a top 25 matchup

Alabama – Tide vs. the Rebels. Who to cheer for and who will win? Elvis was born in Mississippi but I feel like Nick Saban would make a fine Colonel Tom Parker by keeping 50% of all my profits…Bama will prevail

@AuburnElvis

Well, all of my picks looked great and really excelled in their bye weeks. THAT’s how you pick teams, folks. I hope everybody’s gonna tune in 7PM Eastern, to see the first battle of the Elvii this Saturday, when LSU visits Auburn. Sadly, I won’t be there in the stands, but that just means y’all get the benefit of my clever tweets during the game.

Oregon – I expect the Ducks to pound Arizona, who only beat an average Cal team due to a poorly-defended, last-second Hail Mary.

Alabama – [sigh] I have to admit that even Lane Kiffin can’t screw up when he’s working with all the weapons Nick Saban’s given him. Tide’s gonna roll over Mississippi and Dr. Bo.

Oklahoma – I expect TCU will befuddle the Sooners for a half, but then that big, red wagon will just roll in the second.

Auburn – Once Gus Malzahn finishes evaluating the plays Auburn can run consistently, the offensive production will stabilize. I expect that to occur in the second half vs. LSU.

@HawkeyeElvis

Alabama – This week ought to be REAAAAALLY interesting as the Tide Rolls into the Grove. Best game of the week.

Oregon – The Ducks get a firm test from a crazy Wildcat squad. If this game were in the desert, I would worry for Puddles. But it’s not.

Oklahoma – That Sooners/Baylor Bears game will be fun to watch.

Auburn? Sure why not War Eagle. Nobody wants the 4th playoff spot. Florida State is going to get beat. I’m not sure if A&M can survive the SEC West. Tiger on Tiger action Saturday night on the plains. And unfortunately, that means Elvis versus Elvis. You boys play nice.

Hawkeye Elvis is off this week to head down into the Jungle Room and watch all those games on my 3 TVs.

@IrishElvis

I keep my top 4 the same this week, but a new order (and also new teams) are a near certainty next week.

Oregon – really, Quacks? Wazzou? Be happy that was the late game and no one on the East Coast was watching

Oklahoma – I still think they have the easiest road to an undefeated season & a playoff lock

Florida State – they still look *super* shaky, but they’ve outlasted two top-30 teams and are perfect in the loss column

Auburn – I’m predicting a Tiger victory when Auburn plays LSU (ah, but aren’t both mascots Tigers? Exactly). The Elvii are caught in a trap & can’t walk out of this matchup…

TCB Committee Member Comments

@TheLSUElvis

The LSU Elvis is still All Shook Up after the Mississippi State Bulldogs came into Tiger Stadium and handed the Tigers their first loss of the season. The top four remain the same, but the teams have been “All Shook Up” as well….

Oregon – I just don’t see the Ducks losing a game the rest of the season.

Florida State – Can Florida State get by when their starting quarterback has been up and down with off-the-field issues?

Oklahoma – Boomer Sooners are looking strong, but still not top 2 worthy

Alabama – the SEC might completely beat itself out of the top 4 by the end of the year. ‘Bama is still tops in the league though.

@AuburnElvis

What a weekend. Every top team (that played someone decent) struggled for at least a half. I honestly don’t know if I should leave everything alone or completely re-shuffle everything. So to guarantee none of my picks look bad this week, I’m picking 4 teams that all have bye weeks:

Oklahoma – Bye week. I guarantee they won’t struggle.

Oregon – Bye week. I guarantee they won’t struggle.

Alabama – Bye week. I guarantee they won’t struggle.

Mississippi State – Bye week. I guarantee they won’t struggle.

@HawkeyeElvis

I’m always going to rank them based on how they play and who they play. Some shake-ups in the Hawkeye Elvis Top 4:

Alabama – The dancers from Viva Las Vegas could have played the secondary better than Florida did.

Oregon – Washington State nearly had the Ducks All Shook Up.

Florida State – Clemson is moving into the Heartbreak Hotel after literally giving the game to Seminoles.

Oklahoma – The best win of the weekend? Survived a Harum Scarum from West Virginia.

@IrishElvis

I’m a firm believer that polls don’t matter until October — the sample size is just too small. In the meantime, however, we have you covered.

Oregon – has the weakest schedule strength of the top 4, but has avoided much of the drama found elsewhere in college football

Oklahoma – continues to take care of business, but still haven’t seen them against top-30 competition

Florida State – Jimbo Fisher had a perplexed look on his face when he saw Jameis Winston in full pads pregame, and I expect that look to continue if the ‘Noles appear fallible on the field

Auburn – War Eagle’s in-state rival gets bumped after forgetting how to possess the football for 2 1/2 quarters against Florida

@TheLSUElvis

Elvis Presley’s last movie was about a Doctor who was in charge of a clinic in a poor neighborhood. The movie was titled “Change of Habit.” Well there was no ‘change of habit’ in my top 4 over the weekend so it remains the same…

Florida State

Alabama

Oregon

Oklahoma

@AuburnElvis

Oregon – Every week their path to a perfect regular season seems easier.

FSU – Every week, their path to a perfect season seems harder.

Auburn – We’ll find out on Thursday is this pick is smart, or just homer-ism.

Texas A&M – Has to win at least 3 of these games: Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Missouri. I think they will.

@HawkeyeElvis

Just like when I give my kids money to buy something, no change for Hawkeye Elvis.

Oregon – They actually trailed! Wyoming 7-0 after the first quarter. And still scored 48 points. Their Pac-12 competition seems to be vanishing every week.

Florida State – Will the Seminoles truly be tested this week with Clemson coming to town? Or will the Tigers get mollywhopped again?

Alabama – The Gators barely held off Kentucky this week. What will the Tide do them? Hide the women and children.

Auburn – A stern test for Auburn Elvis on a Thursday night. Be wary of that old wizard in Manhattan. They win this game and it looks really good on a resume.

This morning I’m just thankful there isn’t a Cyclone Elvis.

@IrishElvis

This job gets easier as the number of undefeated teams dwindles. It’ll get harder once we need to start differentiating between one-loss teams…

Oregon – stays put for another week

Oklahoma – moving them up a bit since their schedule strength is virtually identical to Oregon

Florida State – Clemson test this week should help an atrocious schedule thus far and hopefully test the defending champs

Alabama – I think they’re still the SEC team to beat, but like most, they have their flaws

Florida State – still the defending champion and I think they stay at #1 till knocked off, but it is getting harder and harder to keep them on top of the college football mountain. Playing Clemson this week might actually show us what type of team this is this year.

Alabama – It was almost as if Alabama knew the spread was 40 and just wanted to tease people with a 41-0 score. Oh Nick Saban, you tricky head coach you!

Oregon – What an impressive win over Michigan State. The Ducks have bumped the Spartans out of the Top 4 and they have jumped ahead of Oklahoma to take the number 3 spot in the LSU Elvis poll.

Oklahoma – The Sooners drop to 4 not because they did anything wrong with their 52-7 victory over Tulsa, but Oregon beat a top-10 team. The Sooners will have their chance to jump in the polls when they take on Baylor later this year.

Elvis once said, “I learned very early in life that without a song, the day would never end; without a song, a man ain’t got a friend; without a song, the road would never bend; without a song.So I keep singing a song.” I think the same can be said for College Football. It is such a wonderful time of year!

@AuburnElvis

Oregon – They for reals, y’all.

FSU – Playing average right now. Guess they’re looking ahead to Clemson?

Auburn – Will score a lot of points again this year, and they’ll need to.

Texas A&M – Considered putting Maryland or Rutgers here just to troll, but instead, I’m imagining a world where a 1-loss Texas A&M looks better than anyone in leagues with the word “Big” in the title.

@HawkeyeElvis

Oregon – I see my Elvi brethren are coming around on the Ducks. Can turn a game around lightning fast. Who in the Pac-12 can beat them?

Alabama – The Tide got rolling against the FCS until lightning halted their game. Can the full SEC schedule start please?

Florida State – I have to dock them again. An unconvincing win against a lower opponent. Who do these guys think they are? Iowa?

Auburn – Now THAT’S how you take care of an opponent. But again, SEC full schedule please.

@IrishElvis

Oregon – get a solid win and a decent strength-of-schedule bump. Let’s see how they look here in the top slot.

Florida State – Two unconvincing wins …let’s compare Clemson vs. UGA in week 1 with Clemson vs. FSU in week 3.

Georgia – Bye > MAC that the rest of the SEC played.

Oklahoma – Louisiana Tech & Tulsa? Atrocious…but have avoided any drama thus far.

@TheLSUElvis

Florida State – They didn’t look great versus Oklahoma State, but they are still the defending champs at the top of the hill. Until someone knocks them off, they will be number 1 on the LSU Elvis poll. Also, did you see Red Lightning? My boy is back and he is defending better than the FSU defense did all night.

Alabama – Tough win versus West Virginia. It is still Alabama and it is still Nick Saban, watch out for the Texas A&M, Auburn or Georgia to be the SEC representative in the 1st college football playoff, they all looked really good.

Oklahoma – Standard win versus Louisiana Tech. I don’t see the Sooners loosing anytime soon and they should stay in the top 4. If they lose before the November 8 matchup with Baylor, I think they will lock themselves out of the top 4 playoff position.

Michigan State – at Oregon this Saturday. Will the traditional defense win or the high-powered offense. We will see and we might see the first change in the LSU Elvis top 4.

@AuburnElvis

Florida State – The Seminoles won’t have to be great, just good enough to win them all against a medium strength of schedule.

Auburn – The nation’s toughest schedule? No problem. Auburn has the means and the motivation.

Oregon – This will be the year they get Stanford (and everybody else in the Pac-12) off their backs. Look out, Michigan State.

Ohio State – I’m keeping the Buckeyes in here for 1 more week to see how they fare against Va. Tech., but Oklahoma’s looking more attractive.

@HawkeyeElvis

Oregon – Did Oregon things on their way to scoring 41 first-half points. Yeah they played a bunch of stiffs, but that’s what you are supposed to do, right? No stiffs this week as Sparty comes to town.

Florida State – A sign of weakness for the defending champs? When you don’t cover, I knock you down a step.

Alabama – Same goes for the Tide. Was West Virginia really that good?

Auburn – Slowly cooked the Razorbacks before finishing them off. I’m glad my team doesn’t play in the SEC West.

@IrishElvis

FSU – Didn’t choke, so they can stay here.

Oregon – will play Michigan State on Saturday, and a victory will validate this ranking, which is too high now based upon their existing body of work.

Alabama – Gets dropped a peg due to underwhelming offensive performance (style points matter!) and the unkempt attire of their offensive coordinator (style points matter!).

Georgia – I’m going to use strength of schedule as the primary metric for my rankings this year, and while Clemson may prove to be mediocre, I think Todd Gurley + playoff = good television.
