In reply to NDtex. Perception trumps reality? I see us more as a Stone Cold or Shawn Michaels. Someone who was utterly dominant in the past, fell way, way off for a period of time but came back with an ultimate vengeance. Probably closer to Stone Cold since we rebuilt our success based on nastiness rather than skill and finesse, but nonetheless came back to the top of the mountain

In reply to trey. Actually (and I have to give @oaknd1 credit for this), Notre Dame is John Cena. He's the guy that always tries to do the right thing, is supposed to be the ultimate example of a babyface, yet half of the fans loathe the guy and want him destroyed. It's a prefect analogy and I say this as someone who hates Cena so very much.

I don’t want anyone on the Notre Dame football team who doesn’t want to be there no matter how talented they might be. EV wants to got to school at UCLA and I’m fine with that. I suggest we all go back to caring about the student-athletes who are on the Notre Dame football team and stop worrying about those who are not.

Much of this discussion, including the whole article by Doyel ignores the whole reason for the Letter of intent. If you are going to restrict scholarships you need some mechanism to insure that the folks who take the scholarship spot follow through on their commitment. If someone want’s to propose an alternate method of that, fine, until that point the rules are the rule.
