Opening Weekend Series Against UAH Your Fighting Irish opened up the season just like they wanted too, opening up the 2017-2018 campaign with a sweep of the two game weekend series against the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers. This weekend's games gives us plenty to review and discuss. This recap will go through the highlights of the first two games and will finish up with a question to Coach Jackson about next weekend's opponent, the University of Denver Pioneers, whom the Irish ...

Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey vs Team USA NTDP
It's HOCKEY NIGHT in South Bend!!!! https://twitter.com/NDHockey/status/914597729661267970 Well folks, it's finally here!!! The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Hockey 2017-2018 season has kicked off. The team will be quite a bit different different from last season as they will need to adopt "next man in" mentality with the vacancies left behind by Goalie Captain Cal Petersen and Anders Bjork, who signed a three-year deal with the Boston Bruins this past May. This season, the Irish are led by ...
Chasing Cup Dreams: Irish In the NHL Playoffs
During the modern era in Notre Dame hockey, no coach has had more success than Jeff Jackson. Jackson has compiled a .604 winning percentage and also piloted the Irish to their only two Frozen Four Appearances in program history. Additionally, the Irish have had a recent run of NHL draft picks and guys who have managed to stay in the league during the Jackson Era. Three of these players - Erik Condra, Ian Cole, and Bryan Rust - will seek to become just the fifth Notre Dame player to have their ...
Spy Wednesday w/Padre: Faith, Hoops, and Charity
Normally I write on the last day of the week, and I title my article “Good Fridays w/Padre.” For religious reasons, this is the one week of the year during which I simply cannot write that column. I also consider Maundy Thursday off limits because of the whole Last Supper thing. That left me with Palm Sunday, which was otherwise occupied by watching the basketball lads defeating a giant leprechaun and his Texan team (and I must applaud the cheerleaders’ intensity during that Pom Sunday game); ...
Anders Lee Called Up by the New York Islanders
The New York Islanders announced earlier this week that former Notre Dame forward, Anders Lee, was called up from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. In the 54 games that he has played this season, Lee has scored 41 point (22 goals and 19 assists) for the Sound Tigers. His 22 goals lead the Sound Tigers for the year and ranks him second among AHL rookies. Lee was drafted in the sixth round by the Islanders in the 2009 NHL Draft. Lee earned three monograms in three ...
Plenty of Notre Dame to Go Around
As we enter the final week before Spring ball, I can't help but notice a certain level of restlessness around my fellow Notre Dame football fanatics. Especially after a disappointing, and yet still encouraging, 2013 campaign, it seems like the kids can't quite go to sleep at night. I'm always intrigued by this time of year. It seems like so much (national signing day, NFL combine/draft, spring practices) is going on and yet so little is actually happening. We fantasize about our abilities ...
Don’t Stop Believin’
Just a small town girl, livin' in a lonely world She took the midnight train goin' anywhere Just a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit He took the midnight train goin' anywhere... I love football, I'm not gonna lie. But hockey is a close second in my world. And with all of the Olympic hockey AND Notre Dame hockey this weekend, I could not be happier! What ... you're not a hockey fanatic? You don't follow Notre Dame hockey? Let me catch you up with the highlights of this ...
Friday Roundup: The “Back to Business” Edition
After a nice solid holiday break from work, a bit of serious writing here (and non-serious writing like the Roundups), a trip out to the BCS title game (post coming soon), catching up from a load of work at the day job, and completely failing at trying to host a Google+ Hangout, it's time to get back into the swing of things. So yes, that means it's time to get the Friday Roundups going again in 2014. Now, unfortunately, I don't have anything particularly witty, funny, or really anything ...
South Bend to Soldier Field: Part 2
Little did I know when I attended the Notre Dame - Miami football game at Soldier Field last fall that another Irish team would make an appearance at Soldier Field just a few short months later! I received a last minute opportunity last week from City360TV to cover the Hockey City Classic at Soldier Field in Chicago which featured two college hockey match ups. The first match up being CCHA rivals No. 12 Notre Dame vs. No. 3 Miami of Ohio, and the second being WCHA Rivals No. 18 Wisconsin and ...
Onward to Victory: Notre Dame Hockey
This is your friendly reminder that "Onward to Victory: Notre Dame Hockey" will air tonight at 9:30pm EST on Versus (soon to be the NBC Sports Network). And after the horrid excuse for a football game that was the Champs Sports Bowl, any escape from thinking about ND football is definitely welcome at this point. As discussed in this week's Pre-Snap Read, the show will cover the roots of the Irish hockey program, the emergence of the program as a national power, the building of the Compton ...
