This is your reminder that you have just a little over two weeks to get your Valentine's Day plan together. If there is one staple for this day, it is flowers. You know, those things that tend to skyrocket in price for this holiday. Oh sure, you are likely going to see a "deal" in your inbox that makes you think that you are getting off the hook, but after all the hidden charges, you've spent at least three times as much as you initially expected. Our sponsor, The Bouqs, founded by a Notre ...
Friday Roundup: The “Get Your Dodgeball Jokes Ready” Edition
Sometimes, Notre Dame Football really is the gift that keeps on giving. First Brian Kelly hires Brian VanGroder, aka Uncle Rico. Not only does this open up all kinds of Napoleon Dynamite jokes, but we are all now blessed to have one of the best rage GIFs ever at our disposal. And now, we have the hiring of Matt LaFleur for the vacant QB job. I know there is probably a lot that he brings to the table; however, I can't help but hear White Goodman saying "Cram it up your cramhole, LaFluer" ...
7 Major Takeaways from Notre Dame’s Under Armour Partnership
Today, Jack Swarbrick held a press conference to officially announced Under Armour as the new athletic apparel provider for all Notre Dame athletics. The entire presser is up at WatchND.tv and I highly suggest giving it a full watch. Below, I've highlighted seven things that I took away from the event, the major bullet points that are sticking with me since the event ended. 1. Notre Dame Is Back on Top Unsurprisingly, the ten year deal is the largest in college athletics. So if you ever ...
Friday Roundup: The “Back to Business” Edition
After a nice solid holiday break from work, a bit of serious writing here (and non-serious writing like the Roundups), a trip out to the BCS title game (post coming soon), catching up from a load of work at the day job, and completely failing at trying to host a Google+ Hangout, it's time to get back into the swing of things. So yes, that means it's time to get the Friday Roundups going again in 2014. Now, unfortunately, I don't have anything particularly witty, funny, or really anything ...
We Tried to Have the #HLSRecap Awards Show and This Happened
So Irish Elvis had this great idea to have an awards show and roundtable discussion on Google+ using the Hangouts on Air feature. Fantastic idea, I thought, I've done hangouts before, I just have to link it up to the HLS G+ page and we are good. All that was left was for me to send out the invites and then this happened: [youtube id="1qcXXZGVH-Q"] Apparently, Google likes to hide everyone's invites on profile pages instead of, you know, actually trying to notify them. So it took a while ...
Troy Niklas Will Enter the NFL Draft
Apparently, Notre Dame felt like releasing just about everything possible on January 9th. Sports Illustrated reported that Troy Niklas will forgo his senior season at ND and enter the NFL draft. He now joins juniors Stephon Tuitt and George Atkinson III as well as senior Louis Nix III as Irish players leaving early for the chance at a NFL payday. I would wager Niklas lands in the third round, fourth at worst. He's an incredible talent and his measurable alone will make this beast of a TE a ...
Notre Dame to Replace Adidas with Under Armour
Slow news day today, huh? ESPN's Darren Rovell broke the news that Notre Dame will be leaving Adidas as their exclusive athletic apparel provider for Under Armour at the end of the current academic year. While the exact contract deals aren't known, the deal will cover all Irish athletics and I'm sure it will involve a truckload of cash and likely Notre Dame being the premier Under Armour school as it once was for Adidas. And really, that's why you should be excited about this move. Current ...
DaVaris Daniels Suspended, Will Re-Enroll
Notre Dame has suffered their first causality for the 2014 calendar year. Earlier today, sources confirmed to Keith Arnold that DaVaris Daniels would be suspended for the spring semester. Moments later, ESPN released his full statement: "I understand that attending the University of Notre Dame is a privilege and with that comes a certain level of academic responsibility," Daniels said. "Therefore, I will not be attending Notre Dame in the Spring semester but fully expect to re-enroll in the ...
A New Year’s Greeting
Welcome to 2014, Loyal Readers. I hope your hangovers are treating you well and that you will be able to kick back, relax, and enjoy a great day of college football. I wanted to take a little bit of time to thank everyone for another great year here at HLS. This is largely a labor of love/an insane expression of rabid fandom and y'all help make it a hell of a lot of fun. Further, thanks to your support through our various advertising partners, I've been able to send out a $100 donation to ...
