The game these days is almost incidental to the concerted effort to separate fans from their money. Why bother with the game? Just put highlights from championship seasons past up on that big video screen — at a reasonable price, of course.

I hated to do it, but it had to be be said. Use whatever cliche you like: the emperor has no clothes, there’s an elephant in the room, a problem is not solved by ignoring it. On Saturday night we sold our Stadium to the other team. Their coach boasted that it helped his players – how could it not have hurt ours?
