I think that’s going to be the toughest hurdle for Kelly and Co. to jump when considering starting Zaire. I do think that Kizer is the safer play under the “more experience” argument, but as I laid out above, is this the best argument to be made for either QB? Ultimately, I think that the offenses potential or ceiling is higher with Zaire given the offensive personnel as it stands. Thanks for reading, Jimmy!

Mr. Madness, I’m confused with your comparisons to Joe Montana (I presume that’s the “Joe M” to whom you refer). He’s out of eligibility and almost certainly uninterested in the QB position at this juncture. At the inception of last year, Zaire was judged the best unproven talent and named the starter. This year things are quite different, as Kizer has proven experience, which aids both himself, his team, and the coaches. Zaire, through no fault of his own, has mostly unproven potential.

I can sse your a kizer fan so I understand you commemts to be way off center. Kizer is not even the best qb on the team let alone better than joe m he almost..doesn’t mean crap he didn’t he was terrible at boston college ohio state and a few other games. This notion about putting the team on his back come on he didn’t do that the team he had around him did that. At the end of the day the Zaire kid is the deal you know it coach knows it and most of the fans know it. Zaire will lead us to the promise land.

Sorry, BJ, but Brian Kelly will go with the more accomplished passer due to the fact he loves to spread the field. Trust me, I have called for Kelly to abandon the pass and go run-heavy forever, but it’s not gonna happen, my fiend. Kizer is the starter hands down. Go Irish!!

Thanks for the comment, Jeff! I think that your argument is very subjective in terms of the amount of “moxy” each guy may or may not have. It could very well be true, but I don’t think we have enough evidence yet to make that call. My argument – as stated above – is purely from a team identity standpoint. I believe the team will have greater amounts of success identifying as run heavy and I believe that Zaire is best fit for this identity. Thanks for reading!
