You know how Tommy John became associated with the surgery even though it was Dr. Frank Jobe who performed it? I could see something similar with Jaylon Smith. His name will be invoked every time a future NFL star sits out a bowl game to protect his body.

Last I checked, Top 5 players don’t usually play in games like the East/West Shrine Game. I think players will think hard about this and some as time goes may sit in bowl games.
