You are a superb writer. Your observations do far more than make me recall the game, they're heart pounding stuff! Moreover your piece shines a bright light on the still "unfinished" character of this season's Irish edition. That you do so by focusing on hope is a remarkably clever way of making even casual readers grasp the yin and yang on the field and its connection to a football fan's emotional investment to his/her team.

Rees - confident but not very good.

Golston - talented but looked like a deer in the headlights.

Zaire - Haven't seen enough to tell.

Kizer - in every interview I've seen - before last Saturday - he was calm and confident. In the post-game interview Saturday he was cool, calm, and collected, while emphasizing that for some time he has been ready to go in at any time.

The winning pass was perfect, in that only Fuller could have caught it - after juking his defender.

This guy is the real deal. He's got the size - 6'4" 230 lbs, he's got the arm, he's got the smarts and he's got the leadership.

I say that next spring the talk around spring camp will be the battle between Wimbush and Zaire for the backup spot, and I eagerly await seeing Kizer getting into the face of an OL for a blown assignment.

We'll be fine
