The only thing that I came up with there was Oregon’s FCS win and a perceived weaker in-conference schedule out-doing the two top 25 wins.

The other consideration is that Ole Miss has not just a top 25 win, but a top 10 win and that vaulted them over Oregon.

Or they just wanted to grab headlines with the SEC West thing knowing it would all blow up eventually. It’s definitely the biggest head-scratcher out of all the rankings.

Yeah that’s my bad. I went back and saw where you said that. Seems top 25 losses are all equal but non-top 25 losses hurt.
I still can’t figure out Ole Miss. Bama and Oregon both have “Power 5 OOC” wins. I get that Bama is held back by the head to head loss. Maybe they are essentially counting Boise St. as “Power 5 OOC” for Ole Miss. That plus Oregon’s FCS game.

They are comparing losses, just in more of a tie-breaker fashion.

I think you’re right about the 82 points but isn’t your logic theory that the committee is not comparing losses?
Looking at your linked chart, it’s hard to see the difference between Oregon, Ole Miss and Auburn. Oregon and Auburn have 2 top 25 wins so you would think Ole Miss would be #5 under this logic. Ole Miss also had 3 non-power 5 wins (granted one was Boise St.). Auburn had 2 and Oregon had 1 and 1 FCS. I guess the FCS game is what held them back. But now I’m back to TCU and Baylor. Maybe TCU got the nod since it played Minnesota and Baylor played 3 non-power 5 teams.

Completely agree on your observation with the SEC cupcake squad rapidly approaching. If they punished Oregon for it (which they seem to have done), I would HOPE they’d do the same.

Regarding TCU and Baylor, I believe TCU gets the nod for beating an OOC power five team plus Baylor getting punished for the West Virginia loss which would be a worse loss than TCU losing to Baylor. I think it’s circular, but it is what it is. Also, I have a feeling the 80+ points TCU put on the board against a power five meant something to the committee.

If the committee really sticks to what I see in their logic, the SEC is going to fall apart like a house of cards and they better pray a one-loss SEC champion exists or none of them are getting in.

I was glad to see Ole Miss ranked ahead of Alabama. I can see why Oregon is ahead of Arizona but I don’t understand the gap between #7 TCU and #13 Baylor.
