What a great article about persistence against the odds, a wonderful appreciation for his god-given gifts, and a sincere humility in the face of enormous personal qualities and accomplishments. I remember hugging Pat Eilers on the field in Sun Devils Stadium immediatly after we beat West Virginia to win the 88 National Championship (on Jan 2, 1989). We hugged and I said two words to him “Miami Game”.

Great article – brings back a ton of memories!!!
