Interesting news that it seems that we will see Hendrix this weekend. Should be fun.
Watching Oregon’s blitzkreig attack last night really does underscore what a great system it is. Our Coach Kelly just needs to get Tommy prepared to play that fast and the D simply doesn’t have time to respond.
I predict 45-21 this weekend, with Jonas and Cierre going over 100 each.

In the Navy game last year we were trying to play too cute and just forgot that ‘Hey,we’re bigger and faster than these guys so let’s just go out and kick the crap out of them’. We saw in the Army game how to beat an option team when you use that thinking…The same way we thought for 43 straight years. We are going to pound this team on Saturday. My final score…ND 41- AF 17. Very true, and part of why the triple option can be so effective. I did not see those other Air Force games to know how much they typically use the triple option, but I would expect them to use it a lot this Saturday. Of course, Oklahoma fans may be saying the same thing if Air Force were playing them on Saturday.

Not to mention the near-miss vs. A then-#7 ranked South Carolina for the Naval Academy this season. Both Navy and Air Force are probably Top-50 programs the past couple of seasons.

There was so much wrong with the way ND defended Navy, that the Army game does indicate the Irish fixed their biggest issues. It’s just that AF is a much better program than Army. Still, had the Irish not solved major failures last year, ND would have lost to Army.

Last year Air Force scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and lost to mighty Oklahoma by just thee points in Norman, and two years ago Navy scored a touchdown very late in their game against Ohio State in Columbus when an unfortunate interception on a two-point conversion attempt that was taken to the endzone ended Navy’s chances of upsetting #6 OSU. The final score was 31-27.

Does Notre Dame have a physical and athletic advantage over Air Force, and do I expect the Irish to win? Absolutely on both counts!

However, Notre Dame will have to work hard and stay disciplined to win this game. It’ll be a good test.

Very true, and a Navy’s defense is probably a little more familiar with the triple option, so it would not be as much of an advantage for Air Force to use those plays. Conversely, we have a known weakness against the triple option that few teams can take advantage of. Hopefully we have remedied our scheme problems from last year.

Against Navy, you dont have the matchup problems like you do against ND. i fully expect 80% of AF’s offense to be run out of the triple and if not, theyre going to be destroyed
