Tuba, I really have no idea what to expect. I called 8-4 in 2007, 7-5 this year. I was close this year but expected a bunch of improvement and NO losses to Syracuse. I think we can see improvement if some of those things are fixed, and we can win games if only some are fixed. If none are fixed, we'll regress badly and Weis is out. If they're all fixed I think we'll see substantial improvement. I hope they will be, but Weis hasn't shown yet that he can do those things. I reallllly hope he can.

Mike81, I love that idea - I officially endorse this plan. Someone email it to Charlie.

No. 10 is right on the mark - I've wondered what causes these great athletes not to be able to perform even adequately so often this year. I think you've nailed it - They're overthinking the game and it makes them hesitant. How about this mix - for the 80% of our games where we should crush the opponent on shear talent disparity alone, don't scheme, just let the guys play ball. For the other game or two, have a scheme that the guys get more than one week to work on. By then, after gaining some confidence in their raw athletic ability, they'll be able to run a scheme AND chew gum at the same time.

Doing a rough compilation of your yes, no, 50/50, probably not, etc. gives me the impression you are not overly optimistic about next year.

How about, play a whole 60 minute game rather than the 10 here, 10 there we did this year. This is exactly why we lost to UNC, Pitt, and Syracuse. We would dominate for a while, then give up and let them back in, come alive a bit, then peter out after we got a lead. It was maddening.

And another one that probably goes with your passion one, is "Play someone else like THEY'RE Notre Dame." I dont know the last time we had an opponent where we went into the game and had the feeling of, "we're gonna knock the shit out of this squad because it will gain us a ton of respect." That's evidenced by the "no signature wins" garbage The Network likes to point out.
