Wow, really? I was a fan. Was my baseball playoff brew of choice.
Really? I didnt think there was much to it. I was expecting something very oaky and broad. This just kinda fizzled and tasted like a thicker version of Shiner Blonde.

Alright, based on above I picked up a 6 of Old Man Winter. I’ve enjoyed some of Southern Tier’s stuff in the past, some of it, well, not so much. But these are old Goose Island guys so I have to give them some love from time to time. The OMW is really nice. A great big ale, indeed.
Also got Firestone Walker’s 15th anniversary blended ale — a blend of 8 different barrel-aged brews from their cellar to celebrate their birthday. Not sure whether to crack it or not. It’s a bomber. Impressive and detailed packaging, too.
Managed to find myself some Templeton Rye as well. I have a feeling all of these will go a long ways towards keeping me warm as the cold settles in.

I just popped open a Sweetwater Festive Ale. I normally don’t drink dark beers even in the winter, but this one has had me craving stouts and porters.
Festive Ale is fairly tame for a winter ale and doesn’t have that typical Sweetwater hoppyness to it. If you’re in the southeast, pick some up. The cocoa and caramel mask the fact that it’s a 8.60 ABV’er.

This weekend I’ve had Sam Adams Old Fezziwig and Leinenkugel’s Honey Weiss and Creamy Dark. All are excellent winter brews.
