Looks like Yuri is headed to Colorado.

His recruitment was very odd to me from the get go. He was ranked super highly on some sites, much lower on others. He always seemed interested in ND, but it wasn’t always clear if ND was interested in him. When it finally looked like ND was interested, he was going to commit, and then he wasn’t, and then the Twitter fiasco, and then he commits to Colorado of all places. I’m not sure how many 5 star cornerback recruits Colorado has gotten lately, but I’m guessing not too many. I hope the Irish can land Standifer (or Poole although admittedly a long shot) because they could really use another corner in this class.

The word on Standifer appears to be that if he addresses an academic deficiency (apparently, lack of a necessary foreign language credit), he’ll be Irish.

Poole’s comments after ND/UF coaches visits, seem to leave us out. Solid to UF.

I see that Armstead chose Oregon. Best of luck to him, can’t win ‘em all.

One more day before we’ll have nothing to talk about for 8 weeks. Enjoy the next 24 hours while it lasts, ladies and gents. Here’s hoping for the good kind of signing day drama tomorrow!

Holy S*** we lost Greenberry? What a d*** move to pull on freaking signing day after you’ve never wavered for a year and a half.

More like 8 months never wavering but hurts nevertheless.

From what im reading around the various interwebs, most people are saying the same thing I am…it hurts to lose a talent like him, but the WAY he did it pisses you off. No one likes being poached or seeing a de-commit happen, but when you tell your committed coach the NIGHT BEFORE that you’re still on board and 7 or so hours later, you pull this, you cant help but be irate.

I’ve been able to spend a bit of time on both campuses…i lived at UH while I was interning at the Hou Chronicle and I have to say, there is NOTHING on that campus that even comes close to anything at ND. Hell, the bathrooms at ND are nicer than the majority of the buildings there. There has to either be an academic issue or something shady going on with this.

Define “never wavering”. He took an awful lot of visits for someone who was “never wavering”.

Did he ever say anything other than he was going to ND? Thats pretty unwavering to me.

Yeah, that’s not the good kind of recruiting drama I was referring to. I bet the on coaches were pretty shocked to talk to him Tuesday night and then not get a letter on Wednesday. BK did a good job of praising the ones he did get, while making a small jab at Greenbury not being an RKG.

Agree with Trey’s comment – it is the way this was done that hurts. At least with Darby verbally decomitting in advance, you have time to move on to other corners if you want, and maybe offer a guy you did not offer before. With this last minute thing you have no time to move to plan B, plan C, etc.

On the recruiting front…it’s been noted that Tony Alford had interviewed yesterday with the Green Bay Packers. The job hasn’t been offered to him and there are still other candidates to be interviewed. Over at ISD…they feel that GB initiated the contact and would be surprised if Alford left ND even though the opportunity is a great one for him.

Latest source news on Davonte Neal…

“I’ve been told by a source close to 4-star WR/CB Davonte Neal that the last available star player ‘sounds for sure’ headed to NotreDame,” Dion Caputi of NFLDraftUpdate.com tweeted.
