Accolades: John Montelus has been selected to the 2013 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Recruited by : Bob Diaco
Other Offers: Boston College, Connecticut, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Syracuse, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia
Favorite Quote from the recruit:
“”“I knew right away this was the place I wanted to play at. Committing is a huge weight off my shoulder,” Montelus told the Boston Herald during the visit. “I liked the academics and I loved the coaching staff. I can see myself playing here.”
Seer’s Vision: Has a reputation for a mean streak, which I love in an offensive lineman. Possibly the most underrated piece of our class, he could be the best guard in the nation. He made the 5th and last commitment to an area that’s always a need, the OL. Crazy thing is he is the smallest of the OL in this haul. John, along with the rest of the OL in the class exemplify why I fully support Coach Kelly. He recruits in the trenches 1st and foremost. We beat out a lot of top schools for all of these kids, and I feel like this could be a point you look back at. He plays out of 2 and 3 point stances in college, and demonstrates the versatility to play G or T. He has not shown a predisposition to pass or run blocking, as he excels at both. Judging from the way he speaks about ND and his fellow commits, he’s as good as Irish. 95%.
