Ok, it’s Michigan week and we’re obligated to make our annual pilgrimage to Ann Arbor, cram into their stadium with 114,000+ trash talking jerks, and hope that Tommy finishes what he started two years ago (no turnovers this time, please!).
A question for the group: what annoys you most about going to Ann Arbor and Michigan’s fans? Here’s a quick look at FIVE things we hate about them, including a little bit of history that you’ll enjoy.
I think it’s important to distinguish the two types of Michigan fans.
The first contain people that actually went to the school, have a level head, and generally aren’t raging assholes 24/7.
Then you have the “WalMart” Michigan fan. The one that picks up a t-shirt and is now a “Michigan Man”. This one is a gigantic raging lunatic because they can’t put out a coherent thought against ND beyond “Fuck Notre Dame” and “Rudy Sucks”.
Note: These two groups can overlap. Alumni can transform into WalMart fans and WalMart fans can actually be tolerable in some cases.
My hate is usually directed towards the later group. Those are the ones that drive me insane.
Beyond that, the only thing that annoys me about their fanbase is the constant excuse of “we didn’t win because we didn’t play Michigan football.” At least admit when you suck and got beat. Irish fans have had to swallow that pill for a while.
