For 60 minutes Saturday night, Cody Bruns sat. Suffering from a slight hamstring injury, he watched with the rest of the 63,996 inside Husky Stadium, as Washington lost again, this time to Oregon State.

Two weeks earlier, for reasons that still don't make sense, Washington coach Tyrone Willingham put freshman wide receiver Bruns into a lopsided loss at Arizona.

Bruns played three plays, but more important, he burned his redshirt season. After not playing for the first four games, after expecting to spend his first year of college learning the speed and the smarts of the game, Bruns' season was wasted on three lousy plays.

And now he's hurt.

It cost the freshman from Prosser a season. It made Washington look like a program that didn't care about its players.

It felt like the move of an angry coach who knew he was in the last throes of his Seattle stay.

That decision is Willingham at his arrogant worst.

It is that typical my-way-or-the-highway approach that has turned so many Huskies fans and boosters against him.

Willingham has a history of cutting guys' careers at Washington short. Willingham also has a history of being a horrible person and an even worse football coach.

It just seems that Fraudy McFrauderson tends to associate with shady people.   This will not serve him well over time. 

Richy, you should listen to my grandpa, who always said: "Son, don't leave your alma mater and cheerleader girlfriend behind in the dead of night, shred your papers, refuse to pay your buyout and then go offer jobs to people from WVU that are accused of being racist.  The last step is the one that will get ya."  Or something like that. 

Bonus Fun Schadenfreude Fact of the Day:  Weis has won just as many games against Pac-10 opponents as Ty Willingham since Weis has been at ND and Willingham has been at Washinton (a total of 6 wins each since 2005).  Sub-bonus fact:  Weis and ND's winning percentage against Pac-10 teams: 67%.  Willingham and UW's winning percentage against Pac-10 teams: 23%.

Well, apparently Texas A&M no longer takes football seriously.

COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M apparently will not waste much time in naming a replacement for football coach Dennis Franchione, who resigned under pressure after Friday's win over Texas in the regular-season finale.

A new coach could be introduced as early as Monday but more likely Tuesday.

Texans assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Sherman, a former A&M offensive line coach and head coach of the Green Bay Packers, appears to be the leader in a three-man race.

Others under consideration are former Notre Dame coach and A&M defensive coordinator Bob Davie and Boise State coach Chris Petersen.

Upon arrival at the pro shop, I talked to a U-Dub staffer who had some advice.

"If I can make a suggestion with Tyrone, he's not one to bother while he's golfing," she said.

When I approached the 10th tee, Willingham was on the 10th fairway, and I almost went out there to bother him but stopped because I didn't have good questions and he wouldn't have good quotes even if I did.

Sean, a Huskies fan who didn't want to give out his last name, fearing what, I don't know, said: "I think Ty's a little overhyped. You talk to some of the alums, and they're like: 'Is there something else?' They're happy to have Ty, but they're not enamored with Ty."

Sean saw Willingham on the range and asked him about his handicap. "He's a 7," Sean said. "He's not recruiting hard enough if he's a 7."

Heh.  Now I'm off to get some Rasperatermelime Rush or some such crap.

"To be very honest, I haven't thought very much about this until, gosh, it was a dead issue. I was doing what we do, which is recruit, and that's where my focus was," Willingham said Monday.

Mora had made comments on a radio talk show indicating that, if the Washington Huskies Head Coaching job were open, he'd leave Atlanta to take it.  These comments enraged Altanta Falcons ownership and made Huskies fans everywhere wonder where the hell Mora was back in 2004.
